i love HAA (it's my second favorite after Discovery), but it makes sense why others may not have liked it as much. it's gritty, aggressive and a lot more cynical compared to how "fun" its predecessor was, so that may not have sat well with everyone expecting them to put out another "Discovery". Alive 2007 really does a fucking amazing job at taking the songs from HAA to a whole other level though (yes, even brainwasher)

Woah woah woah, i for one will not tolerate any Homework slander. Every song is a different attempt at all the house/ EDM genres that were swirling in europe in the 90’s. Chicago house, disco house, acid house, etc. And every subgenre the robots go into is executed perfectly. I implore u and anyone reading this to return to Homework. It’s an accidental debut made by two friends in their bedroom who worshipped Chiq and Black Sabbath equally and loved music that made everyone dance. “STOP THE MUSIC AND GO HOME! Concerning DP's debut 'Homework', "While there isn't much replay value in it today"........Wrong. Or more importantly, just as you are a critic-which is about subjectivity, I would argue that 'Homework' is a great debut album that although simplistic in its presentation, is still just as catchy and inspiring today(2020) as it was in 1997. Great music is timeless.

4:11 It should be pointed out that the TR-808 and TR-909 are also drum machines. The Emu SP1200 and the AKAI MPC are samplers, which are often used as drum machines. Also that picture of the TR-808 is not an original TR-808, but the boutique remake released by Roland a few years ago.

@1:04 Laurent is one of the guitarists of Phoenix. Such concentrated genius in these men, that everything they became involved in became pure gold.

This is one of the best video essays about music I have seen. I would love a look into Random Access Memories or Discovery if at all possible!

Relplay Value is as high to me today as when i first heard Daft Punk about 12 years ago when they blew my mind. I listen to Homework and Discovery almost everyday. Their muisc is really like a love letter to me and i hold on to if for dear life.
