Dr. Bradford, you may be interested that I sent this radio series on understanding Islam to an ex-Muslim Christian in Pakistan who now has a ministry to Muslims online although he has to remain incognito. I thought that there may be some historical stuff that even he is not aware of, although he is extremely knowledgeable. He would have been very comfortable as a Pharisee (along with the hardened heart) were he a Jew in Jesus' time. So thanks for your teachings.

Very comprehensive. One point was not elaborated enough, however. The central discussion of the pre -Islamic worship of stones should be coupled with the ancient Semitic/Israelite stone altars to El and his wife Asherah, something commonly uncovered in archaeological digs. It was alluded to when the Greek word for meteorite shows up in the Bible as Beth El "house of God". Before banning the image worship, both the Arabs and Israelites and Canaanites used stones to represent the face of a deity. Across the board.

@@slamrn9689 it is contextually relevant, because it gives the impression that Islam has stone-worshipping roots whereas Judaism does not. I'm good. Having fun on Sentinel's Discord channel.

Hey Rob I know it’s probably pointless at this point but Skylar and Bowen made a response to your response video about the Nephilim

@@SentinelApologetics Hello Rob, hope all is well. I am a brother in Christ and wanted to see if you would kindly clarify something foe me please. I saw you on EFDawahs recent livestream regarding the historicity of the Gospels. I appreciate you going on. However, I was very confused about something you said - and it could be a simple misunderstanding on my part... You stated that you do NOT believe the Bible is a divine book - but simply a human book. And then you disregarded Theopneustos completely without explaining WHY you dont think it is. So, would you kindly explain to me your position on the Bible and theopneustos please?

@@SentinelApologetics It was a good livestream but I dislike the way Dr. Bowen talks about the consensus and those who disagree have theological commitments. That's a slight poisoning the well fallacy. Dr. Bart Ehrman holds the position that miracles aren't possible which is grounded in the philosophical view of naturalism. Even the consensus could be wrong. I could be wrong but if he was arguing because of the consensus view is an ad populum fallacy. Truth should never be determined by the majority. Mr. Rowe, you need to read a biblical history of Israel by three OT scholars Drs. Iain Provan, V. Philips Long, and Tremper Longman. They challenge some of the main minimalist positions held within biblical scholarship. To be fair, they also critique the biblical maximalist position which states that the biblical stories occured in every detail as described in the biblical text. If you can't get the book, I would recommend biblical scholar Dr. Joel Anderson review of the book.

So if Christ has to go away for the Paraclete to come , wasn't he in complete agreement with the Holy Spirit and guided by the Spirit every day? Why would Christ need to go away for the spirit to come? You misconstrue the Islamic position. You admitted Paraclete can be Comforter or Advocate or Attorney. So the Holy Spirit of God (Gabriel, he is given this title in the Anunciation) will inspire an Attorney who will testify for and give evidence for Christ. All using your own words.

That verse is not talking about Muhammad, it is talking about the Holy Spirit that will come in the disciples. Also, that verse says that no one can see the spirit of truth, was Muhammad invisible?
@irreview
@irreview 4 жыл бұрын
@@williamjames212 possibly. May i ask for the part where it says 'invisible'? Also your position is that the Holy Spirit did not inspire anyone to believe in Christ (like Nicodemus) throughout his ministry, life, and his resurrection, up until the Pentacost which was 50 days after his Ascension? Before that the Holy Spirit was dormant, and otherwise absent in the hearts of believers?

@@irreview John 14:16-17 says, "And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you". The world cannot see him which means that he is invisible. Muhammad was visible to his companions and people around him 600 years later. Yes, the holy spirit was present throughout Jesus Christ ministry but it had not attached itself to the disciples until the Pentecost.
@irreview
@irreview 4 жыл бұрын
@@williamjames212 that says the Advocate is not present, at this time. Nor does the world know him, at this time. It never said invisible. The Holy Spirit came down upon Christ in John ch. 1 after his baptism by St. John. Christ specifically said unless he went away, "the Advocate will not come". The Holy Spirit operates on crowds, so the entire time when people embrace him in Jerusalem crying Hosanna! and when he healed someone with demons, and the Jewish priests still didn't believe him, he says "Those who blaspheme against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven." The Spirit ***was on Earth at the time of these words*** and operating through him and he was doing works by it. The Holy Spirit was very present and in fullness of Christ. He says he will not speak his own words, meaning the Advocate would have God's words put in his mouth, i.e. a revelation. Also the fact that Christ said "another advocate" implies it would be another attorney, perhaps a man like himself. If Paraclete meant spirit it might mean Christ was a spirit himself. The verses are ambiguous, i feel, because the NT implies prophets can arise afterwards. I certainly can't think the Paraclete that is coming after Christ leaves is the Holy Spirit because the Spirit was present in him at the time, such as the Spirit leading him in to the desert to be tempted. He clearly says, unless I go away , the Advocate cannot come. Why would he say that about a Person who was *fully present in him at the time, getting him out of trouble in the nick of time, performing miracles and informing him where to go and when to leave? If i say, a Defender will come *once i leave*, it cannot be you (william james) because you are with me in the room right now (so to speak). I cannot say I will pray to the Father to send someone, it cannot be you because you are already here, fully present. Implies someone who wasn't born yet. That's why the world cannot see him and nor can it accept him. Holy Spirit made its abode in Christ in John 1.

@@irreview John 14:26-27 says, "But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid". The advocate is identified as the holy spirit not Muhammed.
