With the new 3/8 panel and 19/32 batten, what's the window detail? Do you still pad the header and put the trim over the panel around windows? Or does trim get installed first with the panel butted up to the trim?

LP recommends a 3/8" gap between panel siding and trim. It looks like you are installing it underneath or before the trim. This makes it look more finished but does it allow the siding to expand properly? Does it void the warranty?

Hi David! That's an excellent question. The typical space required between the panel siding and trim intersection is 3/16”. LP does allow for trims to be installed over the top of panel siding. The siding will still expand and this practice, when installed properly, will not void the warranty. Page six of the link below has great visual illustrations to assist. lpcorp.com/resources/product-literature/installation-instructions/lp-smartside-trim-fascia-english Thank you!

The 7/16" panel is the only thickness available in my area, so that is what I am using on my house. According to the video, the panel is installed first and the corner trim is installed over the top. What about the trim along the bottom of the panel? Can it be mounted on top, or do you need to cut the panel and install Z-flashing similar to the condition over the windows?

Hi Madeline - 3/8" thick panel is available anywhere that Diamond Kote is sold. We'd be happy to work with your material supplier in order to provide that for you. Please contact us via our "Contact Us" page at analytics.clickdimensions.com/cn/aozuz/dkcontactus The bottom trim could go on first and then and then the panel above it, but in order to get the bottom band trim and the corners to be flush, you are correct, you would have to pad out the bottom band board similar to the window head detail. Please feel free to reach out to us at any time with further questions.

Why would you not put a flashing with end dams directly above the window first, where its needed the most. Inferior installation method if you ask me

Kinda limited by what your local lumberyard sells. I’m not special ordering that much.

3/8 gap. Why not just make it an inch. Looks like crap when done. Looks like a child installed it
@diamondkotesiding2 жыл бұрын
Per our manufacturer, 3/8" is the minimum spacing requirement on all flashing, otherwise the warranty is voided. You can go with a bigger space, as long as it is over the 3/8" minimum.

Do you caulk the face joint of board to batten?

I just wanted to add how terrible that this video is at explaining anything. You didn't show the side details so we can see what overlaps which, you just explained it, might as well have been an audiobook. You said you were going to show how the 3/8 was better but you didn't, who writes these Scripts ? Amateur KZbinrs could have done better

the mic/audio quality is freakin terrible, keeps switching channels for me.
