Understanding Marginalisation
To be marginalised is to be forced to occupy the sides. The marginalisation of people can be because of a different language, different customs or different religious group from the majority community. Sometimes people are marginalised for being poor, and thus 'low' in social status and less human than others. This sense of difference and exclusion leads to communities not having access to resources and opportunities and in their inability to assert their rights.
In this chapter, we will study:
• Who are Adivasis?
• Adivasis and Stereotyping
• Adivasis and Development
• Minorities and Marginalisation
