Volatility come from the Latin "volare" which means "to fly". Of course you can fly up and down, but you need the wings, i.e. the knowledge and the right character.

Mr. Town, you have the gift of explaining stock market concepts so well to investors of various levels of experience. I believe volatility is constant in the stock market investing but it can vary depending on the type of stock one invests in. As an investor who does their research, volatility is the best thing which allows buying shares of quality companies at a discounted price.

Putting well-earned money into the stock market can't be over emphasised for first-time investors, unlike a bank where interest is sure thing! Well, basically times are uncertain, the market is out of control, and banks are gradually failing. I am working on a ballpark estimate of $2M for retirement, and I have a good 6-figure loaded up for this, could there be any opportunity for a boomer like me?

Personally, I would say have a mentor. Not sure where you will get an experienced one, but if your knowledge of the market is limited, it seems like a good bet.

Glad to see people in ford. An American company that needs us Americans to invest into them.. if ford fails America fails. All these other foreign car company's are way up there in price.$100s $200s + We need ford to succeed no matter what the haters say about it. Invest in America people. If it goes down in the $4 range, I'll buy 1,000 stocks. If we can get 10 million+ people to buy 1,000+, 10,000+ stocks. Our country will be in better shape..

Is it within the right of a stock brokerage firm to restrict transactions siting market volatility? To be more specific, I'm wondering it if was legal for Robinhood, TD AmeriTrade, and Charles Swab to stop investors from buying shares in GME, AMC, and others?

You may only hope to mitigate or minimise risk or volatility. There's no such thing as a risk free investment anyway. It seems that's what some people want though. If you're waiting for 'risk free' investment with an almost entirely stable stock price, before taking risks you won't get very far. Especially in this economic environment.

I've been kinda unsure about the market due to its usual volatility, at the same time I still feel it's the right time to make profit because of the price decreases, heard someone speaking of making over $400k from selling S&P500 he bought at $90k since the pandemic and I'm driven to ask what techniques/skillset is needed to achieve this.

Volatility is risk and when the Vix goes up, you can sell out, hold and if the Vix goes to 70-80, then CRASH, you then can buy up all the stocks cheap including the ones you held. Holding through any crash is stupid and financially illogical and only the timing is the problem as exiting too early and you miss out on div's. However, if you get it pretty close, the amount of div;s you lose is way less than the big chunk of extra shares you pick up after the crash giving you way more divs after. just common sense and remember maths dosent have feelings, only YOU do... Silly humans!!

All of this hyperbole sounds great, but I am not finding any opportunities in any companies that I like or care about. The businesses I shop at have stock prices that are at or near all-time highs, have leadership that I do not like, or are disqualified either through Rule 1 principles or my own personal values. The book demonstrated research resources that are no longer available. I think this whole thing is incredibly frustrating and a huge amount of pie-in-the-sky. The companies that are holding our economy together are exorbitantly priced, and poised only to continue going up. I'm spinning my wheels for nothing.
@Mossberg9304 жыл бұрын
Patience is the name of the game. You might only make one trade a year with this method, depending on the market. I don’t see anything in the buy range either at this time. If something is overpriced, it’s bound to come down eventually.

Volatility = Opportunity. But how to determine the value of TSLA? seems that the retail investors are just going mad and throwing their $1200 checks into it. Elon himself laughs at us for being so foolish and driving up the price on it.
@makesaveinvest14014 жыл бұрын
Yeah!! I agree with you!! Tesla is such an awesome company but they still have a price limit worth paying for!!
@joephysics54694 жыл бұрын
From a pure valuation standpoint I'd buy TSLA under $20.00. Run the numbers. Rule one investors buy companies that are as close to a sure thing as possible. Even at $20.00 it would be absolutely speculation because of it's huge debt. In other words, TSLA is not a rule one type stock.

Tesla doesn’t turn a positive EPS. How does one objectively value it?

There ain’t going to be an upward volatility, pretty much this economy is done! Between the political suicide that is coming and hyper inflation is just over. My 2 cents
