5:27 AIM-9M uses tracking suspension IRCCM; AIM-9M will almost never "go for" flares like a gatewidth IRCCM missile might (Magic 2 or R73). Instead, it will very briefly disable the seeker and guide itself using IOG like a fox 3 might. This means that really all you have to do is keep flares constantly near your plane, because unlike gatewidth, the 9M will re-acquire a target once flares are no longer confusing it. Consequently, flaring the AIM-9M at longer ranges will also usually not help and just waste flares because it will almost certainly just re-acquire you. Once the AIM-9M gets close, you must constantly just spam flares and make a sharp maneuver to get out of the missiles FOV when it turns it seeker back on so it cant re-acquire. Flares alone will almost never save you, you have to maneuver AFTER you deploy them or IOG will bring it to you.

That's exactly what I explain in that section of the video. Put the flares into the FoV of the seeker to trigger the tracking suspension then pull out of your original trajectory, missile continues along your original path on inertial guidance. That's a good note on not trying to flare them at longer ranges though

Dont need to spam flares to dodge 9M... Start turning drop 3 flares and while dropping those flares change direction. All you need to do is lead it into a turn, flare and let it keep going to that direction while you change direction.

you make it look so easy, when i try to notch, i follow all the steps, put the rwr at 3/9 o'clock, chaff, and change elevation to avoid IOG. but in the end i get hit anyway. and then i go and watch my replay in sensor view, turns out the missile was launched from above or below, which meant my notch angle was completely wrong. when they are launching from more or less the same altitude as me i have no problem with it, but i can never tell if it's from above or below. this is so hard but fun and thanks a lot for the videos.

Generally speaking at top tier with fox-3s you'll be notching the missile, the signal on your RWR that says 'MSL'

The MICA still have the usual nerf on French missiles, it spin uncontrollably at launch instead of doing smooth curves and lose all it's speed in seconds making any French jets into ultra short range suicide planes instead of the IRL BVR beasts they are.

I personally find the French planes like the Rafale and M2K some of best in air rb. I think they're the most suited to the chaotic nature of it. I rarely have the issues of my MICAs spinning out unless it's in a dogfight. For those short range off bore duels they are hands down the best

You need to bind a couple of things and disable 'constant elevation of radar antenna' in your controls. Generally speaking not as important as gatewidth IRCCM missiles. Tracking suspension means the seeker essentially switches off when it sees flares, so your afterburner is of less consequence. Check out Defyn's IRCCM flaring guide in the description

Because the iog when you notch and chaff will keep it on the same path, when you pitch up or down if it follows your path then the notch wasn't good enough as it's still tracking you. Definitely tricky and you'll need to get a feel for it kinda

Coming into it now a lot of the people you're up against have had that time to learn all the new mechanics and tech. Flying low especially in the F-15C is not a good strategy, you're limiting your options heavily and your missiles have much less range when you're down low. Multipathing to defeat missiles coming from above you is also much more of a gamble

Well I've been playing top tier for over a year now pretty consistently. Since the fox-3 update I've barely stopped playing. The Rafale is incredibly good and a very forgiving aircraft to fly, I've also got an absolute ton of time playing the M2K-5F, and the Rafale just does the same things as that except better in pretty much every way

Top tier air sucks so bad, especially stock grind. Most of the time my whole team is dead and im 1v5 and the other 50% of the time i just die to so random missile i can't see.

I don’t man, for me notching and chaffing does not work.

Not sure what to tell you, because unless you're caught out close range, notching, chaffing and changing altitude is extremely reliable. If you still get hit it means you made a mistake, try watching it back or having a look in sensor view
