Your explaining is awesomely thorough never missing any bits and leaving people wondering, the easiest way to understand was to watch this.

Oops...accidentally deleted my last comment by hitting the wrong key. Time to start over...lol. Hey Ricky, I recall the start of my guitar journey; it was quite overwhelming with so much to absorb. The first thing that struck me was the fretboard, plastered with notes - 6 strings, each with 12 notes in different colours. It was daunting! I doubted I'd ever get the hang of it, or at least that it would take an eternity. I felt pretty clueless. But as you've mentioned, having the musical alphabet laid out on your 'Alphabet Street' is an excellent visual tool. It allows you to spot the sharps (#) and flats (b) easily, without a cluttered fretboard. By beginning with the natural notes, identifying sharps and flats becomes straightforward. I'm a fan of visual aids; they pique my interest, engage my mind, and make learning more enjoyable. Thanks for that. And when you say 'Si'thee'... I hope it's something pleasant...lol

Ricky out of all the videos I have seen yours simplifies everything, even your circle of Fifths you put sharps and flats between the major notes on the wheel which again simplifies the wheel rather than split the wheel with sharps flats on one half of the wheel and major notes occupying the other half.....will watch all your videos as you make it easy to follow....thanks Nigel W.

You are in the process of making a lot of guitar teacher unemployed, by taking this non BS approach. Unmistifying the whole thing :- ) makes suddenly, all clear, and easy to memorise. Thanks again Ricky.

Good evening Ricky! Your fretboard videos have really helped me to better understand the fretboard. I don't think the B-Sharps was the name of the band in Back to the Future, but for sure it was the name of the acapella group in the Simpsons comprised of Homer, Apu, Moe, and eventually Barney (Chief Wiggum was given the boot). You are an awesome teacher man, keep it up!

Would you consider it trolling if I said B# exists in the context of the C# Major scale (and many other scales)?
@rickysguitar Жыл бұрын
Not at all. Theoretically that's correct. I've seen lots of piano pieces where modulation to C# Major happens. Usually in classical music like sonatas. Practically for rock, pop and blues not so much.
@dienamx66962 ай бұрын
how does this apply with chords? cant seem to find a direct answer on KZbin like the sharp version of the chord is the same as the flat, so how can you make it sound like the pitch is moving, idk if im being stupid by asking this.

Are you saying that the term "Tone" links to full 7 alphabets only? ABCDEFG. And "Semitone" includes full 7 + 5 # or b total 12 in 1 Octave. Sounds weired. Each fret or black heys in piano should have a more prominent status.
@TalmageL-pn2pv8 ай бұрын
Whole notes are houses, Sharps and flats, are the sections of yard on each side of their house,, "B and C " , live in a duplex, and only have one side yard instead of a yard on each side, just like "E and F" , do. " G" , is has has the big house on the block. Sort of landmark.
