Understanding Sink & Source Wiring

In this video, we will learn how to connect PLC Inputs in sink wiring OR source wiring. The same sink and source concept is used in AC Drive/VFD control wiring.
We have tried to explain this in very clear way.

sinking: Provides a common ground "INTO" your inputs (ground is connected to the Common Input Terminal aka "CO"). Voltage source is in this case is going in the direction INWARDS the inputs (AKA Sinking in) that connects with the common ground of the inputs basically sinking: - common ground - voltage source sinks inwards your inputs which then connects with the common ground of the inputs Simple as thinking of it as "Sinking in" ======================================= sourcing: Provides a common voltage source "INTO" your inputs (voltage source is connected to the Common Input Terminal aka "CO"). Volatage source in this case is going in the direction OUTWARDS of the inputs back to connect with ground of the supply. basically sourcing: - common voltage source - voltage source sources outwards your inputs which then connects with the ground supply Simple as thinking of it as "Sourcing out" Remember conventional current flows from Positive terminal to negative (Electrons flow from the negative terminal to the positive)

but when we use sink or source .? i mean during design a control system. ( whats the advatages of the two connecting types

I prefer sink wiring. Sometimes it depends on sensor type. Sensor can be sink or source type.
