Great video. As a vintage collector primarily, what I see with the sticker autos is what they will be like in 20 years. The stickers will lose adhesiveness and fall off and down in the slab. No one is thinking about this. On card auto will always be best.

Another determining factor is how many colors are on the patch. Mutli-color patches are more desirable than single color patches

Great video! The only part I would disagree with here is using the number of check boxes to roughly value a card. For example, a sticker auto with a manufactured patch and is numbered compared to an on-card auto with a game-used patch would be 3 to 2 checks, but I would value the latter card more.

Great stuff, growing strong, keep it up! My only comment is about placing a dollar amount to the different tiers. Since you can get high-end game worn RPAs from different players and their prices can be vastly different. For example, national treasures RPA of Mason Rudolph vs NT RPA of Patrick Mahomes. The quality of the gimmicks and cards for both are high tier. The price isn't what I would use to classify low/mid/high tier for these gimmicks. Just my opinion. Great work

I don't mind sticks I just hate that they are a signed band aid. When it is loaded or placed with in the card or it's on a piece of board, plastic ect and you can get a clean large auto I don't mind it. Great video new subscriber 👍

My most recent was for a pair of raw Kobe on card autos, each with game worn jerseys from his last Championship season, each serial#25. Spent 1.5K for each. One of my best buys this year.

Good overview! A gimmick that you could touch on in the future is short-prints (e.g., SP, SSP, and USP/SSSP). I personally think these are the most FUN to collect because they often use a cool or funny photo (We can't forget that hobbies are meant to be fun! :P) Some SPs are very hard to find - like 1 in 10K packs. They're likely not paralleled nor #'d, but could be worth more than an auto. However, you might also fall into the 1:1 trap that you mentioned.

Great Video Dan. A discussion on inserts would be good to see. So many people say case hits, case hits, well yeah but panini printed 86,000 cases so how rare are they really. i think its important for new people to understand some inserts like kaboom/downtown were actually short printed once upon a time but lately id say they're over printed.

Always diversify any and all investments, or in this case collections.. if one thing tanks your okay still.. I really worry for the people who bought in high and have a whole collection they bought at peak. paying thousands a piece for prizm silvers of last couple of years can get quite dangerous IMO... I just hope guys/gals doing that haven’t risked everything by gambling with theirs & families financial present/future. Uncertain times, I always would suggest restraint and only put in what your willing to lose, rather on as you say gimmick cards or whatever else. For soccer cards in the time of Covid years 2020 and 2021, so far there are almost no on-card autographs in all releases of Topps and Panini ( very rare exception are those lost, misplaced, and delivered very few Topps Gio Reyna on card autos). Sticker autos would be king by default because there are no other kind of autos to outrank these. The jersey patch has a crazy and confused disclaimer saying it is not from any game or event, and does not state if it is game used or player worn but then there is a statement claiming authentic memorabilia whatever that means. That's why it's seems to be crazy and confused disclaimer. My question is would a rookie card with a sticker auto and with that not from any event, not game used or not player worn patch with the crazy and confused disclaimer still be considered an legit "RPA"? When all soccer card "RPAs" are like that from the time of Covid, would it be fair and correct to say these recent soccer cards as "RPAs" would enjoy same highest rank as those awesome RPAs that are game used and on-card autos from the past or the future? Thank you.

Also printing plates and e-cards (blockchain).. back in the day redemption cards used to be the actual card itself minus the autograph obviously, eventually they would hole punch the card to differentiate it... And finally I've seen fill in the blank cards where you draw or write on the card yourself

Hiya Daniel. I'm not a fan of "manufactured" rarity. As said, the purists went nuts over the destruction of GU jerseys. I believe the "first" jersey/patch cards came in the ⚾️ 1997 Upper Deck set; a date that will live in infamy? IMO, Topps has "over-produced" patch cards whether GU/notGU and may be found - overall - in bargain bins at local shows. The RPA, IMO, is a departure from that since auto'ed RCs are in high demand of "hot" players or tomorrow's GOAT? One "statistical" way to tier patch/1of1/serial numbered cards? Just a thought? Check a Beckett - not for specific value - but for their pricing of relic or auto cards to see where the demand lies at any given month. As you've said - the collector or seller "values" their items not comps or price guides for the most part. Again. Great discussion and guidance - especially for newcomers or those returning to the hobby. Ya know? I wish I had a mentor 30 yrs ago to guide me thru the shark infested waters. 👍

Solid information but I think the use of the term "gimmick" is not necessarily correct, since the term tends to imply a trick or non-substantive method to gain attention. Autographs for example, are not really a "gimmick" they have been a staple of collecting (not just cards) forever.

Who’s checking/ auditing panini on which patches are game used, player worn…….no one……who checks if the player has used a pen machine to sign the cards…..no one…….who checks if the player “accidentally” lost a bunch of pre signed cards in the mail…..no one….who checks if panini gives the best centred serialled card to the player or management to keep as a 😉 quid pro quo/ bonus….no one.
