I hate when YT drops my comments... anyway excellent video Tank. As an American veteran & bushcrafter/camper... I appreciate the almost unlimited utility of the smock. I wish our military did. Most of NATO does. To my knowledge there's no one over here who keeps any in quantity/stock. Occasionally they're online... my size is hard to find 180/120-30 or 190/120-30. I recently found a new unissued MTP UBACS and I'm waiting for it any day now. ATB !

As an afterthought, the only additional thing that I would keep in a smock is one of the easy to find US GI 1 pint aviators canteen/flask and the hard to find aluminum nesting cup (Spanish military surplus - No handle... go figure?). I have several. they fit the Sawyer Mini Perfectly !

Ohh the UBACS are a lovely bit of kit..only thing i feel would better this old combat smock are the fleece open pockets that are on the newer mtp smocks...

Personally I think being prepared is self respect if that makes sense ! My car keys contain a torch a lighter and a cutting tool. My vehicle contains a stove. Fuel, food, water wool blanket. Its good drills. Thanks for your comment, buddy..

@ I am much the same as you. Though I don’t like too much stuff on my keys, so I keep the necessaries in my trouser pockets. Keep the same as you in my car and van. As you rightly say, it is self respect to yourself and, you don’t have to scrounge stuff from anyone else’s supplies if you get stuck whilst out.

Solid pack marra, If I could offer a tip? I wrap a thin bally, headover/buff and bandanna inside my scrimscarf, roll them up inside your hood tight as you can, I added a hairband to the loop as it can be tricky to close the loop once it's all rolled. Can also add a second split toggle on the drawcords and that lets you secure the scrim at each side. 🤘🙂 Oh, and I thought DPM stood for 'Don't pissing MOVE!' 😂

i love my dpm combat jacket, its the best camo for where i am in the beacons. should go through mine one day. great loadout there bud 👍 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

I appreciate the essential fire kit. However, my addition would be a means of boiling water even if it's just a mug, especially in cold Temps. Disposable gloves in my hygiene kit is a must for me. Together with a meths stove for stealth reasons👍

I carry those items in my trousers pockets along with snacks, peanuts and raisins.

Never been in the forces but I've used one of these for years. If I've lost something it's usually in it's pockets. I also have a desert camo ripstop one for the seaside

When you are hunt down by the enemy....you nay have lost most gears but you still had your smock on....If you got enough survival gear and food in your smock....you stand a very good chance of survival for quite some time...😊😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

another great tip vid, I ordered the book last night! the gem books are great, I always have a bit of food in my smock as well, packet of dried fruit/nuts, chocolate, sweets, energy bars etc

I've got the gem mushroom and also the tree one, so so informative. I keep food items in my trousers. I go the high calorie route. Peperami, pork scratchings..

Very nice,I definitely need to upgrade my smock now that you've given me some great ideas,I've got plenty of bits and bobs to do it, and I've got that book I picked it up from the charity shop for a pound a few years ago,I will have to get a hood from my army surplus,my smock is green inside,I will be digging it out today 👍

@@outsidertankmy smock is different to yours,it's got no hood and no buttons to put one on,smock itself is very snug ,I've grown a bit since I last tried it on and Xmas hasn't helped either😂,I've got a mess tin and stove in the bottom left pocket with fire dragon fuel x 3,first aid in the top left, food and brew kit in the bottom right, multi tool in the arm pocket and a pencil,and still working on the rest , I was going to use a different jacket but realised that the smock has more options for putting kit in, waterproofing is a good idea for extra protection 👍

Sure pal of course. I have a mylar blanket as a ground sheet for heat reflection. I have a hank of paracord 30ft. 4 stakes. And a small tarp from Temu..
