So if I understand correctly feedback lets iteratively hone in on accuracy without exactly "knowing" beforehand how precisely to actuate the relevant signals? Otherwise you'd have to know exactly how much to open or close the valve to get a precise temperature, which would be really hard to just figure out but a feedback loop automatically actuates the signal according to whether it hits the target?

Yes.. thats what a closed looped control system does. There is a feedback to the controller. The controllers make sure the error is zero comparing with the PV and the Setpoint. Hope this helps.. thank you.. you can also see my other video regarding the PID control system for more details.
