Thanks. Chamkila's story is one of the most dramatic in Indian music IMO. I'm glad you liked the episode! 😊

Chamkila was a Dalit “Chamar which is a Dalit cast in Punjab. I hope Imtiaz Sir touched upon this also. That day and today how cast play a role in the music industry.

I would be thoroughly disappointed if things are brushed under the carpet.Caste may been one of the reasons he was killed.

Punjabi music lovers don’t give any preference to casteism or religion of any singer , that’s where Punjabi culture is different then many other states of India.

I never ever imagined that non Punjabi speakers will show their interest in Chamkila. Is it just because the movie or you guys already knew that legend ???

Hehe I won't lie and say I'm the biggest Chamkila fan. I had heard a few songs previously. But since last year (after the film's announcement) I've been playing his songs non stop. I sort of went into a rabbit hole of him life and story... He was sooo good!

My cousin from Ludhiana used to visit our home during summer holidays during the Bluetooth era. We used to exchange songs and discuss Punjabi music. He told me about Chamkila. This was late 2000s and early 2010s.

Chamkila was an amazing artist, great at singing, writing songs, performing, and making people laugh. His songs talked about many different kinds of people, both men and women. He could sing from the point of view of young folks to the elderly, showing he was truly talented. Comparing him to Sidhu Moosewala, who might be considered a C-grade imitation of Tupac Shakur, doesn't do justice to Chamkila's unique talents and contributions.

@KillerMirzaX6 ай бұрын
@@DanishAli-gw9ke Every Punjabi artist, including Sidhu Moose Wala, followed Chamkila. Many hit songs were inspired by Chamkila’s compositions and lyrics. For instance, artists like Honey Singh, Gippy Grewal, Diljit Dosanjh, Karan Aujla, and Sidhu Moose Wala have produced songs that reflect his influence. In short, Chamkila was the seed from which the tree of Punjabi music grew.

Indeed, i don't know about chamkela (who i heard also wrote against khalistanis and was forced to back down after receiving death threats) but seedhu musawala on the other hand romanticised gun culture, gangster and also khalistanis just for the sake of it. They should have free speech no doubt but should certainly not be encouraged like this and whitewash his character like this guy is trying to do...

Don’t glorify the nonsense, vulgar and anti social elements of the music world. They were not real stars. They just encashed the dirty psychological thought process of a common man which were never expressed otherwise.
