@The Gaming Eye - YES , Philippines , Thailand & the 3rd World ( & partially even the rich USA) are a real cable mess , in contrast in Germany even insulated aircables (very rutal areas)+ Not insulated overhead power wires are neatly build , the worst German "cable mess" is when trolley bus & tram meet , which is still nothing compared to Philippines , Thailand etc.

I wish the video had explained how the *first* line is pulled through the conduit between the winch truck and the cable truck.

You have different ways. If the run is not too long you can use a router to go from one end to the other and pull back some rope to then pull the winch line. If not you use a Compressor to shoot a mouse or birdie with the compressed air. You have a line of string attached to the birdie and it flies down the pipe super fast. You just grab it at other end and use that string to pull your rope then pull the winch line through.

the electrical manholes should have sealed covers fixed with bolts + seals & also sump pumps installed inside (like in Germany)
