Most of the reviews here on KZbin were done by extroverts lol this is why they don't understand the important lesson of this movie. This movie is made so that people will understand how introverts view the world (daydreaming, zoning out, being shy, being bullied, etc.) and how they deal with everyday life. I sometimes do maladaptive daydreaming and Walter's character is so relatable to me. This movie is about finding purpose in life, to explore the unknown and to be brave and bold, the things that Walter was able to do towards the end of the movie. I have probably watched this movie several times already and it has inspired me to travel, explore and learn other cultures. Also, the Snow Leopard symbolizes Walter. He is the Snow Leopard. Beautiful things do not demand attention just like negative 25. Little did they understand that Walter, the lowkey guy, is the most important employee in Time aside from Sean.

Fr, this movie touch me in some personal level, i dont think any other movies can do this. Always daydreaming myself, i can relate to walter character in a deeper feeling.

It’s so anoying when ppl who are extroverted dismiss this movie as another feel good movie when it’s much more than that

I relate to this comment so much and now have a grasp that I need to watch this film someday!
What a terribly underrated movie. I was looking through my hard-disks to clean up unwanted files. I came across this film and remembered how much I loved this film back then, so I decided to look up how this film was received by critiques. I was so disappointed. I am never deleting this film.

Great to know that. I think i know how you feel about this movie. I'm going to enjoy this movie like you soon. It begins from my friends start to play surfskate then i search for it and find a clip shows 62 years old auntie plays downhill skateboarding as a member of Thailand national team, then end up with Walter Mitty clips and see your comment. LOL

The revelation at the end of the film, that this very important 'thing' he's been looking for the entire film, was himself. Literally and figuratively, everyone has been looking for him, at the end he was found. It was so beautiful. This movie sadly would've done better in the 80s when people appreciated things like this, but I loved the hell out of this movie! The conclusion apparently didn't speak to many critics though, as they probably already believe they're important and at the center of everything.

Beautifully said. I mean isn't it the one thing that we sometimes lose along the way because of responsibilities and priorities?

Critics don't like positive movies. They only praise nihilist dribble or propaganda for their preferred political ideology.

I was 10 when this movie came out and for whatever reason my mom took me and my all my siblings and cousins to go see it in theatres. This will sound crazy but Something about it changed the trajectory of my life. There was definitely a before and after in my life when I walked into the theatre and walked out. Idk. If you haven’t seen it it’s a must an instant classic

This is one of my most favourite movie. Beautiful cinematography, beautiful story and narration, beautiful places and much more. I have seen this movie lots of time and never ever have I got bored. Although I have seen it many times still until I saw your video, I wasn’t aware of extensive symbolism that has used in this movie. Now I like it even more. Keep the work you will be successful in no time.

Thank you for giving voice to the feelings the film illicits. This movie sneaks up on you, or it did me. You watch again and again and slowly it dawns in that it is one of the best movies you will ever see.

This is ONE of the movies I really love as it talks about living life in the moment and act on what we want to do and have mindfulness in everything we do since we often tend to be preoccupied with our mundane daily life... Excellent analysis and well explained... Thank you very much...

I really connect to this movie, specifically Walter, in a lot of ways. I’ve always been a introverted and quiet person. I find it hard to express myself to others, feeling like if I don’t have someone’s attention, am I really important? But this movie showed me that doesn’t matter. Being yourself just to be yourself is the most empowering thing I’ve ever felt. It doesn’t matter if someone’s watching, or if no one is, how it makes YOU feel is what’s important. This movie really inspires me to get out of my comfort zone and not be scared of the unknown. This analysis is amazing and I love to see that other people love this movie as well!

There are many double-meaning phrases in the film. The "quintessence of life (or LIFE?)" , his job description : "Negative asset" manager? and "beautiful things don't ask for attention" applied to him at the end when he sees his own image on the magazine cover.

Thanks for this analysis, Bagel-man. It was clear and should be enough to hold anyone’s attention for 7 minutes - even a Millennial! Ha! I wish you had more time and space here to move more slowly and really explore some of the plot points you called out, as well as to challenge your followers to find something in their lives that they feel is Mitty-esque, and to inspire them to find a way through that feeling. Not to ignore it, but to keep it close enough to remind and/or inspire us to learn from the fear, or pain, or whatever it is that keeps us from becoming all we can be. I’ve been a photographer for years and have traveled all over the continent and even the world on assignments, and yet I’m a great subject for some Mitty-analysis. Have I succeeded in following my dream? Well, I know some people think so, but now all I can say is “Well, I’m still no Sean Penn.” 😎 Thanks for posting this message, Bagel! 📷

I think that learning about personality types like the enneagram helps us to understand characters better. The symbolism is really interesting and it will be good to watch this movie again with these points in mind.
