I remember as a little 6 year old loving Dan cloutier he was the first home goalie I knew n I loved him loved felix aswell but when luongo came I was in grade 5 and now as a 24 year old Canuck fan he still has a big place in my heart as one of the best goalies we ever had Plus seeing him win the gold medal for Canada in Vancouver made him that much more sentimental

Been around since the King Richard and Captain Kirk days. Luongo was the one of Vancouver’s best. Much respect to Luoooo

I still remember that call, which for me, became an inside joke to refer to Luongo making a big save: "How do you do, Bobby Loo!"

Great recap. Keenan was never officially GM. Though he was part of the GM trifecta with Tambellini and Mike Penney as I recall
@undertakerpitt Жыл бұрын
He wasn’t OFFICIALLY the GM, but he was pulling ALL the strings

@@undertakerpitt I remember at the time seeing that a full rebuild was needed, but Pat Quinn, great as he'd been in building this team, couldn't let go, so a guy like Keenan was needed to get the rebuild started with the dismantle. It was unfortunate that some top tier goalies like Potvin didn't work out, but that happens sometimes, and it took a bit of time to find the new number one, and build the next top team.

And then we never looked back (except for Holtby, Martin, Delia, and Halak)

Then came Markstrom, Demko, and on the rise is Arturs Silovs. If you're still not sure, Gollum will lead you into Silovs' lair and you silly hobbitses can find out why pucks get stuck in Silovs' web.

1:46 Yeah if you mean by Gelinas coming back to avenge the Flames fans who were devastated when the Canucks beat them in Game Seven in Overtime in 1994 thus making it fitting for Calgary ten years later. Yeah I get it. Oh and both Vancouver and Calgary lost in the Finals eventually

not to mention winning the gold medal in vancouver standing on his head

Dan Cloutier was so good in the regular season. Sigh... Luongo was like Cloutier but better. Not as big of a choker in the playoffs but he still gives up such crucial goals. Think 2010 Olympics (Sidney Crosby's goal shouldn't have been needed) and Game 7 of round 1 where he let in tying goals with a small amount of time left.
@undertakerpitt3 жыл бұрын
If Crawford didn’t play Cloutier 60+ games a season, he may not have fallen apart in the playoffs. Clouts never had a decent backup. By the time Auld was ready, Cloutier was on the shelf
@September20043 жыл бұрын
@@undertakerpitt Isn't 60 normal for a starter? I could be wrong.
@undertakerpitt3 жыл бұрын
@@September2004 On a team like Detroit, Colorado, or New Jersey, 60+ isn’t bad, because you’re only facing 20-25 shots a game. Vancouver has never had good defence, so Cloutier faced on average 30-40 shots per game. The guy would just run out of gas.

Whoa wait those are my irbe clips... Whatever the case, actually if you go by the record, Vancouver would have made the playoffs that year had they played Irbe as he actually had a winning record. But keenan stated he didnt like irbe in not so exact terms, and refused to regularly play him despite his record.
@undertakerpitt3 жыл бұрын
Keenan saw Irbe as too small, which is why he tried replacing him with Burke then Snow
@Thunderduck129 күн бұрын
Snow also got 6 shutouts in 98/99...........

The fact we couldn't replace a crap goaltender shows how bad Vancouver is with goalies and sure we have a goalie that's good now the only problem is he's always injured so his skill you can't even use it when you need it 😂😂😂😂😂 and Luongo one of the most overrated goalies to have ever came to the game
