Ever since I've watched them I've started showing more interest in leitmotifs in not just Undertale, but in other forms of media as well. A fun theory: Once upon a time is, for much people, considered as Chara's theme (since Megalo Strike Back is from Earthbound, not Undertale), since it's what plays when they fall down. Most think it's Frisk's theme, but the human at the begining have only one stripe on their shirt, and they don't land on flowers. Anyway, is interesting how this song is hidden in several songs, cuz it remembers both of the story of humans and monsters, but also who's walking along us at every moment. I'd like to highlight the presence of the letimotif on most of Asriel's themes. The same way that Asgore haves a bit of Heartache on it, since Asgore didn't want to forget Toriel, Asriel also didn't want to forget Chara. They were more than siblings, they were best friends, and even after all that happened, he still wanted them back.

I think it's really hard to pin down whose theme this is, or what it means. The best answer I have, as much as it sounds like a copout, is that it means everything. This theme is so ubiquitous with Undertale, it can't possibly be narrowed down to just one thing. It represents the entire journey you've been through, from start to finish, and that's why it's everywhere. Because it's everything, literally.

This video made me realize that the melody which starts the old unused version of the song “UnderTale” (from 16:18 to around 18:00 I think) is actually used in the first half of Hopes and Dreams (listen to the background strings starting at 22:26). Considering H&D doesn’t use His Theme, which Toby Fox said someone was originally written as Asgore’s Theme, I guess that little motif was Asriel’s original theme. How cool is that? I wonder if it’s left over in any other songs in the soundtrack...

Okay. Firstly i am surprised that people still watching this video even when 7 months have passed. Secondly i am sad, that this might be the end of the era. I grew up as an Undertale fan by watching these videos a while ago and still finding them interesting. I hope that this isn't the end of Jakob the quiz guy and we'll see him uploading something again. But since KZbin removed the annotations i don't think the day will come. As Jakob said this one is the last "leitmotif" video and that fact is sad. But anyway even after 7 months i still appreciate the effort put into this video and wish the best to Jakob and to his game.
