Actually, he is forced to. Lemme explain. When they all got teleported by King Multiverse, Nightmare tried to leave by using a portal to get back to the au they were dealing with, but King Multiverse denied it. Now the three of them are stuck until the human is eradicated from the undertale multiverse for good.
