Undertale - Hopes and Dreams (rock arrangement)

What if the Asriel battle at the end of the Undertale pacifist run was actually a super fun rock concert?
Happy Undertale day! Undertale turns 2 years old today, so I wanted to pay it tribute with a project I've been working on for close to two years now. This is probably the most ambitious arrangement and video I've ever done, involving me going the furthest out of my comfort zones as an arranger, producer, and videographer!
Playing the Asriel battle in Undertale was a really moving experience for me. The exciting music, vibrant colors, moving dialog...it was a real whirlwind of emotions for me, that at times struck me at a very personal level. After processing that moment of the game for a while, I started to envision a slightly different take on the battle. What if, instead of fighting Asriel, he just threw an awesome concert?
As a kid, I always wanted to be a rock star, and maybe Asriel always wanted to be the Ultimate God of Hyperdeath. I just turned 30 this year, so perhaps this is too early to call my mid-life crisis, but getting to be a rock star was really fun (even if I was just rocking out in my living room with a Guitar Hero controller).
This is a pretty special video for me, and I know it's a lot different from what you'd typically expect to see on this channel. I hope you have as much fun watching this as I did making it!

The amount of watch time this video has still doesn't make up for the amount time you put into this. This is outstanding in all aspects and as a whole production. The arrangement was chilling, nostalgic and inspiring. The recording, lyrics, video editing and effects throughout really differentiated yourself out here in KZbin. I have never heard such a rendition so passionate, beautiful and loved. No amount of words I say could tell you how I felt like for the first time hearing this. Please remember this: when you get more popular (and you definitely will be), there will be many who will give you compliments which are more well thought out than mine and it is very easy to get desensitized when people say they adore your creations. Always remember that there is a person behind that comment/view count who was emotionally affected by your production and possibly made a huge influence on their life. Never underestimate the power of music. Well done Doug, and I wish you all the best in your musical career.

This hit sooo close to home. I've been struggling with depression for a year or so now, and I too have a best friend. One that I've been with since the beginning, and done everything with. I don't know what to say. Knowing that such loss could make him feel this way, it's hard to know that sometimes. Feelings of not being worth anything to anyone, better for the world if I was gone. I have never been so emotionally touched by a video. This has absolutely made my day, maybe my life. Maybe it's too far to say you've saved my life, but you've definitely helped. The parallels are almost unreal. Just, thank you.

Welp, "Hopes and Dreams" it's one of my favourite melodies of Undertale, so, I've been hearing covers since when I finished the game (In my case, I only did the pacifist run). This cover, your work, it's simply unbeaten. You sing perfectly, I can tell it 'cause I sing this song too with the lyrics of "Man on the Internet", and you made perfectly every second of the song. I was watching every movement of your body while you were singing, and I realized that you just don't sing with your body, you sing with your soul too. I've never seen a person more determined to sing a song with that feelings you showed us. It was just amazing, so I'll suscribe and I will give you a big like. Dude. This is so criminally underrated. Most Hopes and Dreams covers/remixes don't manage to hit that 'epic final showdown that everything comes down to, where you truly prove yourself to be the saviour of this world' feeling of the original. But this one does (in its own way and not exactly that, but still), especially with the original lyrics which I like that are about summing up the game rather than Frisk just going '🎶 _Shut up Asriel, you're stupid!_ 🎶'. A lot of the lyrics are from the perspective of an actual person playing Undertale and I think that's really creative.

Crimony, that was something else, I could hardly express my appreciation for this arrangement in words that others haven't already poured their souls into, the music was groundbreaking in a way that dozens of other dedicated expressions of the piece have been unable to manage, the editing reminds me of how much I wish I had a few clones of myself so I could sing the base and melodies of the undertale soundtrack at the same time, the lyrics are well written and in a way satisfy my inherent desire to sing along to this originally mute musical.
