She tried to poison Asgore and laugh at that. She emotionnaly manipulated Asriel to follow her scheme. Even Asriel admit she wasn't a very good person. And she tried to murder dozen if not hundred if not just ALL human of the surface when she was one with Asriel. She hated humanity (ok thats not a sign of evilness but it's a sign that she is not kind at least) Yeah she wasn't a litteral demon. That's only what she become once she Lost her soul, borrow it from Frisk and kill everyone under the player influence. But she was not a good child before that. And didn't really need a lot of convincing to kill everyone. She quickly went on board with the player. And became a maniac obsessed with power on her own.

It's a common coping mechanism similar to Gallows Humor which sans uses. Asriel also said that they BOTH MISTOOK buttercups for cups of butter. After all, they're both children. All of that evidence comes from the exact same tape as the evidence you used, literally right after or the exact same lines. Also, is hating something or someone REALLY evil? Not necessarily. Hate is not inherently evil, and they probably have very good reason for that. I am kind of a misanthropist myself, i can relate. But still trauma and hate can turn a person into Bad one. I am not saying they were a soulless genocidal Monster from the start. Only that they were able to easily turn into one with the player influence. Chara = cunning mischevious child that had plan to at least destroy a village and more or less manipulated Asriel (potentially withouth realising it). Then they died, fused with Asriel to take seven soul on earth and depose their body in their native village. Then they tried to make Asriel Annihilate the village. Then their soul kind of fade away when Asriel die. Then their spirit haunt their own body which is taken by Toriel. Then it sip into the flower bed Frisk/the player fall in and kind of possess Frisk soul more or less. But when this soulless version of Chara, well they kind of borrow the soul of Frisk so they still have feeling. But nonetheless Chara only manifest and take more control IF the player start to genocide the entire local population. They are fully on board with it After a few minute. And they kill Asriel/flowey themselves. They tell you at the end that they were confused but you showed them the meaning of their reincarnation. Destroy the World and power. And no being soulless doesn't make you a monster instantly, flowey was like us and became friend with everyone several times, helped everyone several time. It's only After several reset and trying to experience things, and realising that everyone is predictable and worthless boring being that he start to become a monster. Chara is "hey i am back, weird, so what you want to do interdimensionnal godlike being who control this child body ? Genocide, ok let's go, why not simply end the entire world and existence and the twisted evil spirit of my childhood friend who is just scared of me but was on my side all along while we are at it ?
