Asgore is the best character he's just trying to save the monsters. He doesn't want to kill Frisk out of anger he does it because his people need him. He's not really that evil.

Asgore was a coward who could’ve used the first human soul to cross the barrier and take another six with that power to break the barrier, instead he chose to wait years for children to come to him, only through the actions of frisk was he able to escape his cowardice. Asgore wasn’t evil he was a pathetic leader.
