Don't worry everyone who was expecting Heartache, you'll get it next Saturday! And maaayyyybe a song before it. ;) Also, I forgot to mention a bit of trivia for this song: before I started writing this song, I was listening to "Go the Distance" from the Disney movie "Hercules", and I started trying to write a Frisk version called "Stay Determined". I then realized that I could do a musical song with the same vein inspired by Go the Distance, and thus, Frisk's Promise was born! So if you got Disney vibes, that's why! I love that you did an original song here, to be honest. Too often, Undertale musicals only sing to the soundtrack, which makes them a bit predictable. I'm not saying they're bad (not at all, some do quite well) but the fact that you wanted to go farther and do something new and different is so significant and sets this show apart from the others. The song itself is lovely and quite catchy. I have a feeling it'll be stuck in my head for a while. And your Frisk VA definitely sounds more like a child, which is awesome since that's what they are! Your reasoning for Frisk falling down makes perfect sense in context. So all in all, this is such a nice song and I look forward to next week, since I have a feeling it'll be quite feelsy (assuming you really are doing the songs in order). :)

Huh, who the hell left all these feels on the internet!? Honestly, this is one of the best reasons as to why Frisk even went to Ebott in the first place I've seen, and actually really gives things a really interesting context. And it really does make DETERMINATION into an arc word even moreso than in the game. Even from the standpoint of it being a musical, I'm really, really interested in seeing how Chara will respond later on in the show in 'Undertale' or whatever the equivalent song will be where the backstory gets revealed. This is actually my favourite type of Frisk of all the interpretations that the fandom have about them, a really nice, sweet kid who wants to push through no matter what, BUT not at anyone else's cost, and hot damn did Gearranamaris make me feel that throughout the entire thing....I feel like a broken record talking about the art now, but it is gorgeous and amazing. And as an original song, this works REALLY well, I could definitely hear it in the actual game as an instrumental or whatever.

Aww, thanks so much for the praise! And trust me, "determination" isn't going to be the only arc word in the musical, it's a multi-layered story-there's also the theme of promises, as you can probably guess, and a certain Latin phrase that will come into play in the songs later. ;) As I was writing the script I got to thinking "Why would Frisk potentially call Toriel "Mom", yet want to go back, yet might decide to stay with Toriel at the end?" So I wanted to give Frisk a reason why she felt like she _had_ to go back, even if in her heart, much like Asgore and fighting Frisk, she really doesn't want to. So I really wanted to give her that sort of internal conflict. So thrilled to hear that our interpretation of Frisk is your favorite! You'll see how Chara will respond later. :) As for the song itself, as I was putting the final video together I realized how much the instrumental sounded almost like a slightly sped-up version of Respite, but as fitting as it is I swear I did not intend that at all, I just put together something I thought sounded good, lol.

What I love the most about this is that we get motivations for Frisk. In the game, Frisk is a blank slate, since she (yes Frisk is a she for me, but sometimes I refer to them as a he) is the player character, allowing the people to decide. And we know where the fanbase goes with this... These are really nice motivations for Frisk, it sets her apart from Chara, and gives her unique motivations that fits well into the plot of UNDERTALE. Keep up the good work guys, can't wait to see what's coming.

That's the nice thing about productions like this-the "blank slate" nature of RPG characters doesn't work so well for a streamlined story, so it's fun and more entertaining to give them fleshed-out characterization and personalities. :)

If that is the backstory of frisk then that also lends an explanation of genocide in that flowy being the first monster (as far as she knows) frisk met she would think the other humans where right and monsters need to be destroyed (frisk also assuming that torial is trying to trick her)

I will admit that ever since ask Frisk and Company made this unsubtle, politically charged backstory of Frisk climbing the mountain and running away from home because they were non-binary and their parents didn't accept it, I've sort of shied Away from anyone trying to explain Frisk' s motives. this however, is just beautiful. It gives Frisk a legitimate reason to explore the underground and more incentive for her to free The Monsters. and like some of the other commenters have said, adding original songs to the musical helps take away some of the predictability. Now I'm even more interested in this production.

I mean to me I've read Frisk as nb, because non-confirmed gender. Like how Hollow Knight is read as agender(though the creators confirmed it). Personally I assumed they fell in, like playing on a school field trip and fell. Though things like being pushed or sucide has been alt ideas why, and it sadly makes sense, in that way, why would a kid call something that isn't human, mom. Unless humans treated them so badly or they have no family to speak of. Like most post pacifist routes, make it where Frisk is adopted by monster, like either Frisk is an orphan,or Frisk's Family thinks their dead or something.

Yeah, this musical was written to bring more development to Frisk and Chara (and redemption on Chara's part), and to have an overall more substantial story rather than just having Frisk not say much for instance, so the character interactions are more fleshed out, at least in terms of Frisk and Chara interacting with the rest. :) So glad you like it!

Frisk has achieved the high ground !! She decided to get rid of all of the odds that were against the monsters.If I were there, I would've done exactly that...I would know that it was a foolish choice to make, but these monsters need to be proven good once and for all! I'll put my own life at stake!!😤😤And I bet Frisk felt as the odd one out and didn't have any friends on the surface, so monsters are made to be friends with her. Also Chara and Frisk have 2 different viewpoints : Chara is a little pessimitic about the human world, while Frisk is optimistic. I'm not saying that Chara's bad!! Don't get me wrong!! 😨😨They've been through the same thing, but the difference is that they chose to look at it differently . Now I understand!! Chara fell down here because she coudn't stand it any longer! That was a rash act for her, while Frisk fell down here , determined to prove something new to the world, even though the odds were against her. But, despite the hospitality she got so far, except Flowey's little 'greeting' , she knew that she just coudn't stay forever. And also, Chara, we have to get out of the nest at some point, right? If you two don't open the doors and see what's beyond the ruins, then there's absolutely no point in falling down here! Frisk has a point, Chara.. “I’m guessing you didn't have the best surface life if that's the case.” This is something I never see anyone point out. Frisk’s starting defensive equipment are bandages.
