It’s deeply funny to me that the loading zone to Martlet’s house straight up just triggers the cutscene from her fight if you’re on the genocide route. Like- why bother loading the room for the cutscene? Just play the cutscene over top of the battle in a frozen state? Or load an entirely new room that’s literally ONLY used for the battle? That’s such an incredibly strange way to make a cutscene trigger, no wonder it resulted in this.
@DerpHavenn19 күн бұрын
No, I kinda get it. Why make a new room when you have a perfectly good one already? Then you can just make the cutscene trigger when the room is loaded in Genocide, which means you only have to have the fight load the room to do the cutscene, and you don't have to add any new flags for the game to check for. After all, how could they have known there would be a bug that let you clip through walls?

@ …have you ever made a game before? I can tell you I sure have, I’ve been using GameMaker (the engine behind Undertale. Not sure about UT Yellow, but I assume they used it too) for over 9 years, and I can absolutely tell you with 110% certainty that the level of difficulty in just creating a duplicate copy of Martlet’s home that’s only used for the battle cutscene, and doing it this way, are literally not ANY different in terms of difficulty. In fact, not just was it not any more difficult to just make a new room, they had to actively go OUT OF THEIR WAY to place it in this room instead of just creating a new one for the cutscene. Game developers are never supposed to make games by just *assuming* that players won’t find a way to clip out of bounds, 99 times out of 100 the players are going to find a way to do it, so developers are always supposed to design gameplay around the idea that it COULD happen, even if it shouldn’t. This was almost guaranteed to happen as soon as they reused that room when they didn’t need to.

@@GameJam230 I can confirm, Yellow was made in GameMaker. The only check they put in place for that cutscene was being on the genocide route, didn't even add extra protection by locking it behind Ceroba or Axis, or using the existing variable that tracks Martlet's phase
@GameJam23019 күн бұрын
@@FroststormFrenzy Not that they’d even need to if it was just a dedicated room used only for that cutscene, but yeah, this was entirely to be expected when they implemented the cutscene so weirdly.
@FroststormFrenzy19 күн бұрын
@@GameJam230 Or do what they did in the Ceroba fight! You can't do this for Ceroba because the game spawns the cutscene objects as persistent ones during the fight, not stored in the room it warps to.

Ok, that's literally the most JUSTIFIED genocide ending ever. Ruins monsters, unspareble flying entity and the one who declared war on humanity died, everyone else is safe.
@conquestanddeath440618 күн бұрын
I did one better by editing the save files to get to Asgore with no LV and on the geno route without killing anybody, and made it Kanako and Ceroba escaping to the surface together with the human souls after overthrowing Asgore for torturing kids.

Bro😭😭 how did you skip from before first marlet battle to PHASE 2 ZENITH MARLET 😭😭 And how did you not lose your geno?
@blu3m0nkey20 күн бұрын
I haven't watched it yet but I'm assuming Wrong warp And the flag for geno is still active
@blu3m0nkey20 күн бұрын
Watched it, they use clever tactics to avoid things that don't check / update geno flag if skipped This allows them to then wrong warp to skip to the intro to zenith marlet
@FroststormFrenzy19 күн бұрын
The phase 2 Zenith cutscene is loaded at Martlet's house as long as genocide is active, the only thing stopping you from triggering it early is the wall. In UTY's code, whether you're on genocide or neutral is entirely controlled by one value. This is why you can do things like, Dark Ruins genocide, skip Decibat because you're on genocide, spare Dalv, backtrack, fight Decibat, leave Dark Ruins, get Silver Scarf, kill all Snowdin encounters, fight Genocide Martlet
@Deltexterity19 күн бұрын
@@FroststormFrenzy okay but how did they just walk through walls?
@AstrasEvolution19 күн бұрын
@@DeltexteritySo this run involves adding in the Dimensional Bag at the beginning of the game rather than getting it normally. If you use the bag on the trigger to leave the Dark Ruins and hold horizontal of the door while the bag is open, you get the auto-walk state which allows you to move faster, slide through walls, and generally move without input. This is important specifically for Zenith Warp where if the geno flag is set, then Martlet’s house is the pre-Phase 2 Zenith cutscene. There’s ordinarily no way to make it across the bridge in geno, but the auto-walk state allows us to clip over and into the cutscene.

i was like: wait what if theres a trigger for the geno cutscene in that room- HOW THE HECK DID I CALL THAT (edit: now the speedrunners just need to find a way to skip to asgore without martlet follower)
@FroststormFrenzy19 күн бұрын
Luckily, that only requires making it into New Home! The *only* check that determines if you get the Genocide or Flawed Pacifist cutscene is if you killed Pacifist Ceroba. If you have, you get Flawed Pacifist, otherwise it's genocide, even if your flags are set for True Pacifist. Unluckily, the elevator requires completing the Martlet roof cutscene, or defeating Zenith Martlet in Genocide. The elevator isn't open before then Luckily, anything that checks if Zenith Martlet was defeated specifically checks for her phase 2 intro cutscene being complete, NOT her death. So if it's possible to break out of her fight early, it's possible to skip to Asgore
