As a highly rated seller, I’d just like to add to eliminate scammers altogether, is to put” I will not respond to is it available!” Using that headline in all my listings has completely eliminated scammers even thinking about contacting me. Usually within the 1st 10 minutes of a listing being published, is scammers reaching out. Never respond to is it available or next most likely they’ll ask for your phone number. Great video!

That is what keeps me from selling on MP. I am 10 miles from a PD. Not far from the FD but driving more than 10 miles cuts into the amount of $$’s you can make if you are paying $3 a gallon for gas.

I have sold a couple of things on marketplace. I sold a vehicle about two years ago. That sell went really well. I sold it very quickly. This past week I sold a sofa and loveseat set. Because we are getting a new set. Had a lot of responses to it but the first few were scammers. I'm glad that I figured it out and did not give them any detailed information. Ended up selling it in less than 24 hours and a lady came and picked it up it was really in need of one. She couldn't believe how low I listed it for but I kind of just wanted to make sure I could sell it before the new set comes. So, the main issue I have with marketplace is the scammers. I'm thinking they are foreign and still peoples pictures and have very little on their profile. They insist on paying online. I don't have a zelle account or a venmo. They all disappeared when I told them I take cash on pickup

You can’t be too careful nowadays. If I’m buying or selling a rather expensive item I wont meet anywhere except the sheriff’s office. I’ve had several refuse to meet there which shows that they were up to no good.

As an experienced seller, I agree with your points. I would only add that I very rarely get paid what an item has sold for on eBay (even actual sales) before shipping. I generally expect to get about 75% to 80% of the eBay sales before shipping. Remember that eBay sellers are appealing to a much larger market and are much more likely to find someone who is searching for the exact item you are selling.

I just watched a YT video by someone on here who sold on eBay for a long time, then got a brick and mortar store, and now is also selling on Facebook Marketplace and Whatnot. Re: Facebook Marketplace, she took 3 identical items that she had listed on eBay nine months ago and which had not sold and then put them on Facebook Marketplace. The first one sold in one minute, the other within 20 minutes, and the last within 45 minutes. I have had the same experience with eBay. Items sit on there forever, even if there are a lot of potential buyers. eBay is not what it used to be years ago. I had a store on there back then, and I sold my items super fast, but no more. I'm done with eBay.

I'm a new viewer and just want to say I absolutely love your channel. One way I save on my budget, I know you don't use zip lock bags but I live in a small mobile home and the zip locks help with saving space in my fridge and pantry. I will take that bag and reuse it by turning it inside out and throwing it in the washer and air dry it . I'm able to reuse it several times.

I sold a tiffany style lamp on marketplace and only looked at others online after, only to realize I let it go way way too cheap! 10 years ago, nobody wanted these! I am a full time reseller so just some additional comments to add. If you sell more than $600 and ship on any platform they will require SSN information for tax purposes. Facebook Marketplace offers ZERO seller/buyer if something does go wrong. I have in the past sold on Marketplace but the new algorithm isn’t very conducive for selling now (just my opinion mind you) so selling in local community groups or NextDoor is a better option.

I wish all sellers followed your guidelines. It's unbelievable how many sellers do such a lackluster job of listing their items: photos where you can't even identify the item listed, filthy items and surroundings, atrocious grammar in the title or description (if there IS a description at all), omitting the general location of the product up front - I want to QUICKLY decide if it is locally available or not, and more. Your tips are spot on. My last complaint is with Facebook itself: your location sort tabs are almost meaningless. I have adjusted my location radius based on how far I am willing to travel to buy an item. Why, on God's green earth, do listings pop up under local that are clear across the country from me? It is such a time waster to sort through all of the items that way outside my geographic search area. Thank you Larry and Hope for all of the great videos you produce. I think you have the most practical and realistic information on frugality.

I use to sell and give away free it became a nightmare . I was Harassed many of times for how I look. To point got so bad they hacked my account got my cell number. Called me and leaked my info. I had change my number and get my info took off site. So people becareful.

Also, I just found this on FB Marketplace - "Local pickup items using person-to-person payment methods are not covered by Purchase Protection. Facebook does not offer refunds for any person-to-person transactions. Always be cautious when using person-to-person transactions to purchase Marketplace items, especially if an item needs to be shipped." So that doesn't sound too good for buyers.

Leave them in the box and show a photo of what is in the box. In our example I had already taken the item out of the box. So, having the actual box really didn't increase the value at all.

This is especially useful when you have a box that is hard-to-open or unpack for pictures. And, it is generally best to not open a box which is sealed in plastic, but rather leave it sealed.

Great video. I’m feeling very smug as we already do all the things you’ve suggested in this video for selling on Marketplace and eBay. We even use the foam board light box trick. Here in the U.K. Marketplace items don’t seem to sell for as much as they do on eBay. We find we can make more money selling on eBay even after fees and shipping costs.

I think Ebay is better for bigger ticket items, where FB Marketplace is better for smaller ticket items. Why? The wide audience of Ebay provides access to deeper pockets, and the shipping cost on higher priced items is more easily absorbed into the overall cost. For lower-priced items, shipping makes the over-all price cost prohibitive. Also, selling higher-priced items locally can make your home a target (even if you sell it a a police station, since people can fairly easily look up where you live anyway).

when you sold the item, its best to delete the item. beleive it or not, even if it sais sold, people will still ask about it. So, if u delete it dont have to worry about that :)

I connect my phone to my computer and upload the photos. Then I attach them when on-line. I would assume most people just do the whole thing from their phone, but I'm old school.

I export them from the iPhone to my Mac computer using a Bluetooth function called "Airdrop." It transfers all the photos I have checkmarked on the iPhone to the "Download" folder. If you don't have this capability you can connect your phone to your computer using your USB charging cord. If you still have trouble ask someone among your friends of family that can help you.

Why Do People Post Sold On Items In Facebbok Marketplace??? Its because they been told the price is too much by another person. So when they do sell it they want everybody to know they got what they wanted for it. Especially that person who told them the price was too high. Its just a way to gloat.
