This was one of the best reviews I've seen of any product. You speak at such a perfect pace and with such clarity, I understood nearly everything you said. The things I didn't understand were due to my lack of electronics specifications. What stood out was the expandability. They really are adapting these units for off grid living which is amazing and most likely due to the growing instability of the power grid. Hello, wow!, what a great solar generator. I do have a question on the charging. If I remember correctly with one of the smaller generators you could keep the generator powered up while in use by placing the hooked up panels outside in the sun. Can the same be done with this one? Hope that made sense. Thank you!

The actual "useable watts" is probably around 2300-2400 watts. I own three OUPES products and they tend to be only 78-80% efficient. This is still a good value compared to other brands at a price under $1900. However, a regular price of $2999 is totally absurd - not competitive!

these units are great and all, but lets not forget or ignore that the power is Not "free", lets remember the equipment cost amortized for its lifecycle, even the solar panels. by doing this we can get a much more accurate value per $ compared to grid source. I started out with unrealistic expectations, removing all the so-called 'free' ideas from the equation has helped greatly in designing a suitable system for my needs.

The two things the Oupes mega 3 manual did not tell me was how to access and deploy the handle (on the bottom, opposite the wheels) and how to actually turn the unit off! Was ridiculous! I finally figured out the handle, and my son tried a short press then a long press on the power button, which finally turned it off. Those should both be in the manual. I still cant get the fast-vs-slow AC charge to work, even tho that is covered in the manual; but the instructions still wont actually DO it.

Yes, you can use this unit while charging it. It has pass-through charging capabilities. Also, you don't have to unplug panels after it is charged to protect the unit, but I would disconnect them once it's fully charged.

what is the battery set up in side the OUPES is it 12v, 24v, 48v?

We have been hoping to find an emergency power source for our sump pump. It has battery back up, but those batteries are small and only last a few hours. Do you know how long it could run a sump pump if its cycling on every couple minutes?

Larry has used our smaller Oupes units to run our sump pump. So, I know the Mega 3 would certainly run a sump pump. It depends on how much wattage your sump pump draws and how long it takes to empty the pump well. We used a kill-a-watt meter to measure the draw and were able to come up with a pretty good approximation as to how long the Oupes would run the sump pump. Of course once you get the Mega 3, you can hook it up and it will tell you exacely how long it will run with that draw. The nice thing about the Mega 5 is the power interruption feature.

3072 watt hour capacity on unit divided by 240W panel = 12.8 hrs charge time in a perfect world. Accounting for losses, I'd estimate 14-15 hrs at full solar exposure with a brand new panel.

If I change my charge setting to slow, is that just for a/c charging, or will it slow down the Solar charging time as well? Cause solar charging is typically show, although, if I had the 6 panels, the 2.5 hours is pretty fast😮

Our feeling is that the fast/slow charging setting will only affect A/C charging and not solar. But, if that's important to you, we'd suggest you ask Oupes and they could tell you for sure.

I stuck an item in my cart and tried our older code: "UndertheMedian" (enter without the quotation marks) and it took an additional 5% off my just now.
