UNDERWATER SKETCHING - Coral reefs, Hawaii, and Crown of Thorns Starfish! VLOG3

Katie Croonenberghs you do end up drifting a little bit, but it's not a problem at all since the fish do as well ^_^. Fins really help so you're not wasting energy struggling against the current, and most snorkeling coves are quite sheltered.

Mariya, it looked to me like you were using a watercolor block-- what did you use to cut the sheets off the block when underwater without ripping them? Or was it just a regular flip-pad?

Melissa Gay this block worked because it is glued on just two sides. So once I was done, I'd just slide my finger in, peel one of the sides off, and wrap the sheet around the back. And the next sheets were continued to be held in place so I could draw. I did tear one slightly, but it still worked. So if you decide to use Arches or another 100% cotton brand, just free up two sides, and you're good to go. You could experiment with binder clips and rubber bands with regular watercolor sheets against a rigid surface, but I found this to be easy and secure. I wouldn't recommend paper that's not cotton because it would disintegrate in water and surface would get peely.
