Montenegro is rich in abandoned historical sights. And ancient fortresses make up the majority of them. Fortifications represent a variety of periods of history - from the Ottoman to the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
On the Lustica peninsula there are two large and best-preserved forts on the territory of Montenegro - Lustica and Kabala (the second is also called Oskarush). They were built at the end of the 19th century by the Austro-Hungarian army and subsequently used during the First and Second World Wars, and after that by the Yugoslav People's Army. Unfortunately, today these are classic abandoned buildings, ignored by the state and private investors, despite their rich history and architectural value.
