According to reports, Doc Rivers and Los Angeles Clippers owner Steve Ballmer had several lengthy phone conversations following their Game 7 loss to the Denver Nuggets. Ballmer also spoke with several players, including Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, about moving on from Rivers. The report said the players’ opinions did not sway Ballmer and it was his decision in the end to move on from Doc as the Clippers head coach. @Stretch Shorty Doc still did better as a coach last year with lesser talent. So saying Doc should be fired is a drastic overreaction when it was their stars that underperformed. Everyone says he should've done something with DJ, Blake, and Paul, but when were all three of those guys 100% healthy during the same playoff run? Not until they split up. Doc lost his job because his players flat out didn't want to be there and their poor performances shown that. That's on the Clippers roster, not on Doc as a head coach.

As flawed as Skips logic is, this one has some merit. The east after MJ and before Giannis in 2019 was a cakewalk, where it was one team that you knew was going to make it to the Finals, and possibly one challenger. Only by 2019 did you start to have at least a bit of competition before the conference finals. Look at the east right now: six teams fighting for the top spots. Thats what the East developed into. And yeah, while I acknowledge any ring as a win, because at the end of the day, thats what matters, I'd be lying if I said it wasnt easy. Lets see, the first round, he plays a team with a 35-39 losing record. The second round he plays a team led by two guys who have never performed that well in the Playoffs and were taken to 7 games by CP3 and the Thunder who werent even expected to make the Playoffs. The Conference Finals, he plays the Denver Nuggets, who pulled off a tremendous upset, freeing the Lakers of playing the one team that was on their level. And in the Finals they were taken to 6 games by an injured Miami Heat team without Adebayo or Dragic. Look, I respect the championship he won, but dont act like it wasnt easy.

I never thought adding Leonard and George to the same team was very smart. They are too similar as players. It is hard to win when your two best players are clones. You need to have some diversity on the roster, so each player plays their own role. They are good-to-great players on their own, but somewhat cancel each other out and minimize each other's effectiveness when both are on the court at the same time.

Kawhi makes the decision to go to the Lakers but not to play with LeBron... to play with Anthony Davis. He signs a 2+1 with the Clippers to match 1.
