From the Bucs perspective, Brady isn't always going to be QB of Tampa (hes either gonna perm retire or go to 49rs) so they gonna need a solid QB later. From Baker's, he wants to be a franchise QB so sitting behind a legend for 1-2 years and getting the reins once he retires seems like a win-win. Just look at these other FA QBs that did that and now are the starting QBs . Longterm decision it is a good one bc a 2nd rounder and small cap hit are nothing compared to a good longterm QB esp in the NFL where we are paying QBs ridic numbers now, so to get a solid one on a discount is great esp planning for the future.

Shannon is missing the point. NO ONE not even skip said baker is better than deshaun. But skip was very correct in saying baker was better than darnold & rosen in his draft class (that’s not saying anything obviously). And any team will dump their current QB to get deshaun, he’s a top 5 guy. The only teams that won’t are the teams with Rodgers-Brady-mahomes-Allen-Herbert etc. plus there’s teams that said no because of the 22 cases. Both aspects are true, deshaun is dramatically better than baker but baker is still a good QB when he’s healthy. And he led the browns to their first playoff win against their arch rival. Their first playoff win in literally decades.
