He said Westbrook was his brother and defended Westbrook to detractors as high up as Mark Cuban. Speculating, he probably had dinner over Westbrook's house many times and was likely a friend to Westbrook's wife and children. He should have gone to Westbrook's house and given all of them a goodbye hug and then called the Warriors and Thunder with his decision after he returned to his home. He believed the potential emotional goodbye was more than he could handle.
