So many players can average triple doubles if they really want to, Lebron, Jokic, Harden and Luka to name a few, they are usually 1 or 2 rebounds and assists away of averaging a triple double, you think they can't just chase rebounds and force assists in order to get them ? They absolutely can, but they don't have to cuz winning is more important to them than chasing triple doubles, Westbrook received an MVP because he averaged 1.5 rebounds and assists more than Harden, let that sink in...

Pretty good commentary from these two. A high point (recently) for Russ is the pass out of traffic to AR-15 for the win in OT. The problem is, that that wasn't planned. Russ went into the lane looking to go 1 on 3 in the paint. He was shut down and if AR hadn't been there, Russ would've been stuffed as usual. Problem for the Lakers is his huge contract and that he doesn't have much value on the trade market. IMO, they couldn't even get a mid-level player and a bag of chips for Russ right now.

I have never like the way Westbrook play his game regardless of which team he was on. But when I heard Lakers is going to get Westbrook, I remember telling myself that Lakers is asking for trouble to get him...a guy which many star players (Durant, Paul George..) left behind in OKC because they couldn't play with him, then he went to Houston (played with Harden) and Washington (Beal) each for one season.....given the career history of Westbrook it was really puzzling to me why Rob Pelinka / Lebron wants him on the team with highest salary in Lakers. If a lay person like me can see this will not workout for Lakers, wouldn't these sport professionals know better??

I said this at the beginning of the season having watched Westbrick's entire career in OKC, unless he can magically demonstrate introspection and recognize and take responsibility for his misgivings as a basketball player, he will never grow or evolve out of them. He continues to not only play with the same arrogance and bull-headedness that he always has, but now his shooting percentages are actually going down. If he doesn't make adjustments to how he attacks or doesn't attack the basket, he will never change. His coach needs to tell him, if I see you leave your feet with the ball and you aren't shooting a jumpshot, I'm benching you. And come to think of it, if you start taking extra jumpshots because of this rule I'm also benching you.

I agree partly, but him doing that his first 7 years in Cleveland is what caused it. Brons problem is they should’ve kept Lonzo. Bron has always had an outlet passer that helps him get easy buckets in transition. That’s really where Bron shines the most that people overlook. He makes great decisions in transition and is a good finisher. D Wade, Kevin Love, and Lonzo are all great passers in transition. I guess Bron got lucky in his 1st championship in LA, but the Lakers had better defenders and more consistent spot up 3 pt shooters. That’s the next thing he needs is defenders and spot up 3 pt shooters. He has none this year. Bron isn’t a great lockdown defender, but more of the equivalent of a safety in football playing passing lanes and making stops at the basket. Chasing after guys who are good off the ball wears him out. Then he can’t get his easy transition buckets and the plan B is half court offense with spot up 3 pt shooters. Lonzo and Caruso will chase off the ball players all game. Westbrook doesn’t and he doesn’t complement what Bron is good at and this was a disaster waiting to happen years ago because he still hasn’t realized what he’s good at and surrounded himself with players that complement that. Bron doesn’t know what he’s looking for is the problem.

It's so interesting that Russ has that thought process in regards to winning.Usually a player with that thought process has a low motor. He may have the highest motor in history.Weird.

When Magic got triple doubles it was in wins. It was what was needed on those nights to win. If Magic had wanted to average a triple double he would have but Magic wanted to win. His career was 19 / 7.2 / 11. And of course 5 championships. Russ is a selfish stat monster.

I love how everybody begged for westbrick to get triple doubles 4 years ago to now literally begging westbrick to stop getting triple doubles haha those trip dubs wont even get you a win in fantasy hoops cos the fg and ft% and turnovers will offset the points, rebs, and assists hahaha

Nobody beg for him to get anything, him and his team were the main ones worried about him getting triple doubles. His teams barely made the playoffs them years and were swiftly eliminated in the first round.

Westbrook should've been in the NFL. He's way too aggressive and careless to be a winning basketball player

We really left RW purposefully open ALL series vs Houston. And these fools, including my guy LBJ, really thought THAT guy was a great choice? We deserve to lose. smh.
