So many players can average triple doubles if they really want to, Lebron, Jokic, Harden and Luka to name a few, they are usually 1 or 2 rebounds and assists away of averaging a triple double, you think they can't just chase rebounds and force assists in order to get them ? They absolutely can, but they don't have to cuz winning is more important to them than chasing triple doubles, Westbrook received an MVP because he averaged 1.5 rebounds and assists more than Harden, let that sink in...

Pretty good commentary from these two. A high point (recently) for Russ is the pass out of traffic to AR-15 for the win in OT. The problem is, that that wasn't planned. Russ went into the lane looking to go 1 on 3 in the paint. He was shut down and if AR hadn't been there, Russ would've been stuffed as usual. Problem for the Lakers is his huge contract and that he doesn't have much value on the trade market. IMO, they couldn't even get a mid-level player and a bag of chips for Russ right now.

I always felt last years team was only not good because after they won the championship in 2020, they lost some focus, and were too focused on celebrating themselves. I live in LA, born and raised, and I'm sure they were spending more time having fun then focusing the way they should have to repeat. They weren't bad, they just needed to get their focus back. Trading the majority of them away was a mistake, and I knew it the minute it was done. Now all those guys are doing great elsewhere.

I have never like the way Westbrook play his game regardless of which team he was on. But when I heard Lakers is going to get Westbrook, I remember telling myself that Lakers is asking for trouble to get him...a guy which many star players (Durant, Paul George..) left behind in OKC because they couldn't play with him, then he went to Houston (played with Harden) and Washington (Beal) each for one season.....given the career history of Westbrook it was really puzzling to me why Rob Pelinka / Lebron wants him on the team with highest salary in Lakers. If a lay person like me can see this will not workout for Lakers, wouldn't these sport professionals know better??

The thing is even without the trade for russ this team would suck cause they let caruso go davis got hurt like you expect so did lebron and kuz would be overpaid cause his big contract starts this season playing poorly next to bron due to them playing the same position that would not change still...trezl davis dwight dj melo and bron don't fit together at all...la just would have more tradeable assets...the roster around the team would still suck be the same old guys and they would be even worse record wise...probably 14-20 at best but they could make a real trade at least...maybe 2 solid ones...as they are now russ is untradeable so is davis but they may be able to get a myles turner to put with their big 3 but to get someone like him they have to send the farm aka their one young player whose ready their one draft pick and every young cheap maybe unready player aka all their assets and tradeable contracts they have left dooming them after this season aka tht nunn monk reaves huff and a draft pick for a b- this year player who at his best has been a b tier player maybe high b occasionally and they probably still lose in round 2...it's not worth it...to get grant from detroit they also would have to send a couple vet minimum guys like kent and dj which is fine but he can opt out in 2022 and not resign cause they can't afford to keep him so that's not going to work with his 1 year player option cause they will not win the title with him and then he leaves leaving la more doomed as they have 0 cap space due to russ and only vet min contracts to give guys next year not even a mini mid level...they can resign guys but thats it

I said this at the beginning of the season having watched Westbrick's entire career in OKC, unless he can magically demonstrate introspection and recognize and take responsibility for his misgivings as a basketball player, he will never grow or evolve out of them. He continues to not only play with the same arrogance and bull-headedness that he always has, but now his shooting percentages are actually going down. If he doesn't make adjustments to how he attacks or doesn't attack the basket, he will never change. His coach needs to tell him, if I see you leave your feet with the ball and you aren't shooting a jumpshot, I'm benching you. And come to think of it, if you start taking extra jumpshots because of this rule I'm also benching you.

I agree partly, but him doing that his first 7 years in Cleveland is what caused it. Brons problem is they should’ve kept Lonzo. Bron has always had an outlet passer that helps him get easy buckets in transition. That’s really where Bron shines the most that people overlook. He makes great decisions in transition and is a good finisher. D Wade, Kevin Love, and Lonzo are all great passers in transition. I guess Bron got lucky in his 1st championship in LA, but the Lakers had better defenders and more consistent spot up 3 pt shooters. That’s the next thing he needs is defenders and spot up 3 pt shooters. He has none this year. Bron isn’t a great lockdown defender, but more of the equivalent of a safety in football playing passing lanes and making stops at the basket. Chasing after guys who are good off the ball wears him out. Then he can’t get his easy transition buckets and the plan B is half court offense with spot up 3 pt shooters. Lonzo and Caruso will chase off the ball players all game. Westbrook doesn’t and he doesn’t complement what Bron is good at and this was a disaster waiting to happen years ago because he still hasn’t realized what he’s good at and surrounded himself with players that complement that. Bron doesn’t know what he’s looking for is the problem.

@@jesswilson6012 Lonzo was young and had to leave to develop for his own sake even if he was a good fit. Same with Kuzma. Caruso on the other hand should’ve never been allowed to walk. Blowing up a championship core is a cardinal sin.

That year in 2017 I was literally telling people that Harden should have won it and if not Harden, then Kawhi! Those two were the driving force of their team and Harden almost averaged a triple double that year and was a rebound short of doing it I believe. Kawhi took his offensive game to a whole different lvl that year after losing to OKC the previous famous before. His defense was at an all time high and we all saw what happened to that SA team after Kahwi got injured an im a Spurs fan. Harden and Kahwi shouda got it that year not Westbrook. The triple double hype was unbelievable especially with OKC making the playoffs with KD leaving. Harden and Kawhi got snobbed and Westbrook rode the wave

I actually want to see a small lineup where AD seats, Bron posts at top of key and all plays go through him, Rus penetrates from all angles without the ball and catch passes from Bron, Bron can give and go or bully ball, rest are shooters who play defense like a Johnson. Lane should be clear and when AD comes in Rus goes out and Bron backs to PG position, keep shooters around.
