This was when Burger King started a nationwide campaign to make its name in the burger field. At one point there were dozens of Burger chains like Burger Chef that was known for Star Wars toys. Burger King is now a Canadian/American company that also owns Tim Hortons, whom people near Canada have heard of and seen in hockey arenas. I prefer BK to MCD. The whopper came before the big mac and became a huge success.

Yes Whopper 1954 was a reply to beat McDonalds Cheeseburger. In 1968 a McDonald's franchisee made a bigger burger to compete with the Whopper. When Ray Croc saw it, it had no name. One of the female execs said: "How about the BIG MAC as in the big McDonald's burger?" Rest is history.

The sheer quality of so many goods and services seem to have been better in general during the 60's-70's. I remember the burrito joint a few blocks down from where I live used to sell burritos that were not only bigger, but more flavorful....... and they included chips AND salsa. These days, it just seems like they're skimping on everything.... the chips and salsa cost extra.... and even then, the portion sizes are smaller and the chips aren't even made of corn anymore. dafuq?

Damn, this really hits me right between the nostalgia and the "ol' days" longings zones. The fadedness and the gaps between the commercials are even nostalgia material, with clicks, pops, and an oddly comforting analog hum of old TV. The jingles, the slogans, and those ludicrous outfits worn by happy, singing, dancing servers...can we feasibly go back to them? The one with the Indian (the old-timey word for Native Americans) was new to me, and I loved his "groovy!" remark; they were obviously playing off the "crying Indian" PSAs. The office gang treated the small burger with remarks that wouldn't have been out of place discussing some dude's tallywhacker, and I had to laugh. I was completely surprised as to why the detective ordered his perp "no Whopper!" until the end. Very creative.
@Tornado1994
@Tornado1994 4 жыл бұрын
The Detective One is incredibly Clever!And yes, the 1969 Native American ad was mocking the Crying Indian Don't Litter PSA which first aired in 1968. The Office Ad was both an innuendo and satirical jab at Racist jokes being told in Offices. Its why they had a Black Extra in it. To reflect the social culture changes at the time in the late 60s. Fact: Burger King was one of the Earliest Integrated Fast Food Chains in the South. Florida Chains were Serving Blacks as early as 1957. BK expanded because it was one of the very first chains to be marketed to minorities. Kroc was super racist, and REFUSED to market McDonalds to "Spooks" until 1971.

The "Indian" from the original Litter commercial was "Iron Eyes Cody" , a famous Native American actor in westerns. The thing about him that no one knew is that he had no Indian blood at all and was 100% Sicilian . The actor in the first "native American" ad was actually an Italian-American by the name of Frank De Kova. He played Chief Wild Eagle in he 1960's western spoof comedy, "F Troop", and why he was picked for the commercial. The commercial here reminds us to some degree of the "crying Indian" commercial of the early 1970's here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/q3jYZXStgZp-ntE played by "Iron Eyes Cody" a Sicilian-American actor.

De Kova was Italian and Cheyenne Native American. His mother was The granddaughter of a Cheyenne tribe official in Niagara Falls. His Dad was a Sicilian Immigrant. De Kova played Indians because he was actually naturally Native American. He was actually one of the FIRST to be naturally cast as one. Nicknamed “Little Eagle”. Don Franks(Cree Summer’s Dad) was also Half Native American. He was French Canadian and Saskatchewan. His nickname was “Red Bear” some of his friends called him “Running Cub”.

3:46 The Have It Your Way Jingle For fans, I know this comment is late but I’m giving it some support for you fans out there. Also there’s a second jingle after the first one. It’s just when it ends so don’t worry If in need of the time stamp it’s 4:46

I remember when I was a kid and Burger King coming to our area.. $0.10 Whopper and $0.15 with cheese.. McDonald's had the $0.10 Cheeseburgers.. The good old days for sure.. That's back when we still had drive-in theaters and you were allowed to smoke anywhere and everywhere, even at the dr's office.. lol..

BK is so nasty now. I haven't had a good meal there in years. I won't go anymore. It's nothing like it was when I was growing up. It started going down in the early 2000's in my opinion.

I know what you mean by your statement about it. Hamburger or maybe cheeseburger was actually tastier and delicious back then. If you actually had $10 you can actually feed several family members but now $10 would actually feed oneself and the burgers taste almost tasteless.

+Jersey2tall62 People had divorce back then. Also crimes were easily concealed then, how many priests, pedophiles, murderers, etc. weren't caught and were able to freely commit crimes because they were too lax? Those murderers have killed tens to hundreds of people and NO ONE knew. Yes, I'm sure you'd love to go back to a time when a pedophile murderer could easily lure little boys and girls into his basement, rape, torture, maim and eat them for years and not be caught until 20 to 30 years later.
