I have to admit, shockenaugh is a pretty solid commander. The firebeam conversion is great when one needs a laser, but also great for protecting nukes. The energy disabling is really strong against laser and nuke builds that are always hungry.

Coming from someone who has never played Forts: I love watching this content. Been watching these videos since the algorithm suggested them a year and some ago. What i would like for these casting videos is to include talking about commander abilities and what they could bring to the table. I can understand that from a veteran perspective it might seem dumb to repeatedly talk about the same stuff, but it helps to include more viewers and commanders seem to influence strategy to some degree.

Are you kidding me? Do you know how much RNG there is in Forts that can sway matches on a dime. There rarely is such thing as a fair Forts matchup.

You might be right that Forts has a bit much RNG for a competitive game, but it's also something that you can play against. That's why these tournaments are best of 5, losing once could be random chance, but losing three times is significant.

It is incredible to see that even six years after its release the forts community still evolves and comes up with new and improved strategies. For example, stability tech was not a thing in this tournament whereas now, one year later every pro uses this essential technique to improve their fort.

The second dead cannon wasn't a door-snipe; it was a hit from the bottom. That's something I've often thought was a bit silly: two or three solid iron doors protecting the front... one thin layer of wood on the bottom.

In the second game, If lancen's cannon shot upward to bob's workshop, It would have done enough damage, and he would've won the game.

Or if Felix hadn't've kept shooting at the weapons that were both well-shielded and also far away from anything else and instead aimed for the core, it probably would have turned out much differently, too. Bob & Matteo generally do a good job of coordinating. Now, this said, Lancen and Felix both were playing these games right off the back of the previous 5 they played in the semi-finals, and Lancen, at least, was desperately in need of sleep, so I can understand him not making that connection. It's impressive how well they've been doing even under those conditions! Honestly, the games should have been delayed so everyone could rest up, as is done with tennis tournaments and the like.

I have a strat that might be worth a good try. If you split the braces after a cannon and make the top one a door and the bottom one an portal you could trick an opponent into going for a door snipe that actually ends up hitting them instead of you.

That first match was insanely quick. And it could have been a slog fest, but apparently someone has telekinetic power's. Second match was excellent aim, but mostly some not as effective as it could have been suppression followed by rather very effective suppression. Then third match was some slight mistimings, some surprisingly poor aim, and then some stupidly good aim, which turned a somewhat uneventful match into an incredible one.

Watching the entire tournament it feels like energy shields are just too expensive for being the only defence against lasers :/ maybe they need a rebalance or a new material that doesnt reflect them but does help stop massive penetration to a degree. Consistently not defended against at all and won so many matches on the first firing even when behind :
