Beats have new Beats Flex available now. It has older W1 chip... Do you recommend Beats X for phone call quality.... The new one don't have mic at same location but the overall quality should be closer to beats x since it is similar product...

The beats x is a great set of headphones - and phone call quality is fine. I don’t have the Flex but they look interesting but possibly not much of an upgrade - more an entry level set of phones into the Apple personal audio system.

I heard the crackle and saw the sync issue. Not perfect but definately you could hear the speaker better. If you have time to do it I would just record the audio separately on your phone and sync the autio in post.

interesting for sure, but still none of these options is usable right now. I am sticking to my rode. I hope insta can fix the crackle, then the beats are truly an option and way easier to use and setup then rode (wonder if rode will come up with a solution like the hehe)

Yes - I have. Before I got my AirPods Pro I used them regularly for that. And they work just fine.

There is some latency with the Airpods pro, & also a little clicking noise. Beatsx sound a little brighter, have more clicking, but no latency.

It wasn’t the wind - that’s for sure. I don’t get this effect on other cameras. I’ll be doing another audio test soon with the updated firmware.

@@TheTechPacker I mean if there was crackle noice on all airpods pro under all circumstances a whole lot of consumers would have complained. If may have something to do with the Bluetooth connection with the third party device (camera).

Yes, absolutely. It was specific to this device I think. But the audio quality, aside from the crackle, was also horrible. Other people have contacted me to say that the crackle has improved but the audio still sounds horrible. But the AirPods Pro have also had a recent firmware update, so the tests will be interesting.

Hi, thanks for the review, a bit sad as wireless mic was exactly the reason I upgraded from the one x. I use it for aviation so a mic inside the cockpit is important. Did you try the X2 to see if they fixed the crackle?

same boat here too. For recording audio on my motorcycle tho. The One X audio was disappointing in most situations and completely useless above 5mph or so. Using a separate external audio recorder was just so tedious that I convinced myself that the upgrade was worth the money if it'd simplify the workflow. Unfort, Not so much👎

It's fine when connected to my phone - I think it's specifically the OneR connection that is the issue. I will test with the new firmware soon.

In insta360 official website, it says It is only compatible with the 1st and 2nd generation Airpod. That's why airpod pro and beat x sound not good. lol

The bluetooth earphones are unuseable. They sounded really bad. You can easily polish up the internal mic sound with some noise reduction (especially now with AI-powered noise reduction) but there is no polishing the earphone input. Only wireless solution would be one that is like the Rode's.

Apple Airpods are crap. The BeatsX are a bit better. Up close the internal mic was the best. Thanks for testing products no one else is testing.

@@TheTechPacker thanks, I look forward to see your findings. I'll receive my Insta360 One R tomorrow and will test the feasibility of external recording for my use case, and maybe other things. I even wonder if it would be possible to make a mobile app to connect to the camera via Bluetooth and start/stop audio recoding on the phone (with an external mic?) automatic. It would make an in-sync external recorder, super easy to sync in post later.
