Woke up to watch your beautiful faces this morning! I like to call episodes like these “special” because what you’re doing is learning about a very important piece of history, even when it’s tough to take in. Gosh, it’s so valuable to the entire family and to get to see it all in person is truly remarkable. Wow! Proud of you guys!

Hey guys beautiful video I'm just here to show love as a resident from soweto. This place is beautiful and has a lot of cultural significance and diversity it's just too bad that we the residence are not so vocal about the beauty we have within our own area. ❤

I am deeply touched by your tribute to the dark ages of South Africa. I'm from San Francisco, CA and I thought our history during the slavery years were bad enough. Again, your travels keep opening the eyes of the ignorant masses like me. I do wish to know about your appartment hunt in the Philippines. How'd that go?

Yayy!! I am so happy that you are visiting our beautiful country❤ As a white, Afrikaans South African born in 2007 (13 years after the end of Apartheid) this was interesting and sickening to watch at the same time. South Africa's history is as rich as it is tragic. Oud country definitely still needs a lot of work to do to get to what Nelson Mandela envisioned in 1994, but I am proud of how far we as a people and a nation have come. You really captured a tragic yet vital part of our history very well. It's a shame you just missed the rugby world cup win celebrations, now THAT would have been some experience😅 Are you planning on visiting Pretoria by any chance? Anyways, enjoy the rest of the trip!

You really did well capturing some of the unique Soweto culture and history... one of your most moving and fullest episodes for sure. And right on for Phil not wanting to bungee jump his family, that's a sensible caring dad for sure... I personally would never do it, either... it's basically a big elastic band isn't it?

When I was in College, One of my Professors said that Nelson Mandela is "HIS" Second or Third Greatest Person who ever Walked on Earth. His List of The Greatest was: 1. Jesus 2-3. Nelson Mandela/Albert Einstein The Thing about Nelson Mandela is that the rest of Humanity on Earth can RELATE to what he fought for.

husband speaking age 80 - checking in from Cebu about 7:30 am on the 22nd. this was quite a day, so much history that we don't hear about or - sadly - even care about what happens outside our neighborhood. So sad about the hundreds of children being killed. ( i wonder if any of the police even care about what they did ) Jiggly food is a " no go " and I would bring my own flatware, no hand food for me. " unless a chicken leg " Did you see any safety rope near the rock climb on the tower? When your kids get back to regular in person schools, and they have to do any reports - what a treasure trove they have to call on.
@AlwaysBeChanging
@AlwaysBeChanging 10 ай бұрын
It was heartbreaking to hear about the kids. But another thing that’s beneficial about travel is being exposed to stories and history that we might miss just sitting at home. There wasn’t a safety net. We didn’t let the kids use it. The kids are actually in online school. And they do have opportunities to share their experiences and get extra credit. 👍🏻

It's like any city in the world,there are safe areas and dangerous areas,you just have to know where to go and which places to avoid and you should be fine,generally the wealthier parts of the city such as Sandton,Waterfall,Melrose Arch,Rosebank etc are the safest

@CHAKA-ng8fr
@CHAKA-ng8fr 10 ай бұрын
@@erikpalencia5594 Well I guess they were at the wrong place at the wrong time,doesn't mean it's gonna happen to you,especially in wealthy areas. And according to stats carjackings in the US have risen by 33.5% this year ,in contrast to Gauteng(where Johannesburg is located),which has experienced a 12.1% decrease in carjackings,I'd be more worried about getting jacked over there if I was you.
