The great thing about this is that they're not lining up for hours and making up sob stories to get on the telly. They're not even aware it's going to happen. And then they do it, and it's good, but no judgement, and no boot camp and all that bollocks. Real people have one of their dreams come true, they get a KZbin video to remember it by, and then they get on with their lives like most X Factor and BGT candidates have to. Nobody's making this out to be a big deal. It is for the Surprise Star, and it's huge for them, but by the next morning it's all gone away. Like dreams are supposed to.

If I were more like Michael McIntyre I might have friends. He knows exactly how to direct his good nature, humor, and his candidness to uplift other people. Very special qualities, indeed. It isn't a trick, it isn't a ploy. He really enjoys watching other people have the moment of their lives. I feel sure he does this offstage as well. They are all a part of Michael's magnificence at making us all laugh at our foibles. I have found that difficult to do in my life. Oversensitive, I am. His beloved spouse and children are lucky. What I have learned from being nearly friendless, is that people like us for our quirks, mistakes, drawing outside the lines, being Larry David from time to time. I hide behind fear of not being loved for who I am, so I try to avoid rejection. Michael has such a talent for putting everyone else first, creating comfort and acceptance. He features such a variety of talented people. Diversity can feel magical. Watching the auditorium cheer was triumphant for me, as a viewer. Michael and family, you are beloved by many. And especially me.

Being from Canada I never knew this show existed. Now I'm binge-watching them. This one has to be one of my favourites because Natasha is so obviously nervous so I can hardly wait to hear her singing when she's calm and collected and not shaking like a leaf!
