This started out strong but, after the gas station event I felt like it became a totally different story. It went from some creepy shit going on during power outages to this Penelope having some sort of shadow creature powers. I think another story is in order to answer all the questions left by this one. Like the bouncer knowing what she was.

Premises. A navy submarine is discovered with everyone dead from radiation with no damage to the vessel. The little twist, the people who find the sub are the ones who's getting a glimpse into the future on how they'll die. Mission, solve the puzzle before the people who found the sub are met with their future self. Conundrum, should they solve and disrupt the timeline.

I’m sorry but this story has left me a little confused. What was Penelope? Was she a hybrid shadow person? Her sister, Amelia, was she even alive? So many questions, aside from the 2 mentioned above. Well@@lethfuil in Cali they have made it a law that restaurant, bars, etc... cannot give plastic straws unless asked but soon want all plastic straws removed. They will still have paper straws, straws made from hay of course metal straws you pay for. But people joke about the Straw Police.

That was a wild ride. I’m unsure exactly what they were going for, but it was still wonderful to listen to. Unique, to say the least. I would love a sequel. Apparently the guys knew about the sisters strength. With the somewhat magical cat, maybe they’re witches? I was iffy once the dog fight was mentioned, but was happy she shut it down. Her sister definitely knows a lot. Seems like she’s testing her before telling her anything.

Sadly, the result of bad writing by way too many people, so the readers (like Dr Creepen) don't have much in the way of quality to pick from. This story was probably the best of the sad bunch. He usually picks and reads quite good ones, but unless the quality writers that are floating around actually keep churning out their good stuff, the poor dude doesn't have much of a choice. I've actually listened to another "set" of stories, Tales from the Gas Station, I think, (another reader, sorry) that have multiple stories going on, but it's more like a series, and by gods, they're amazing and VERY enjoyable! I binge listened to them one night when I couldn't sleep. ALL of them, lol! So, it's definitely possible for a story to have multiple parts, and not suck.....the writer just needs to be able to structure a story properly and learn to begin and end their stories so the reader knows wtf is going on. Bit of a rare species these days, it seems...

My guess is that in Part 2 the 'darkness' takes her over but does not manifest in her until she feels threatened or uncomfortable. Because by the time of the gas station it had been sitting dormant and came back to 'defend' her. I'm not sure how else to look at it but hopefully there is an answer there somewhere in the story.
