I really like the whole "gear appears on you" thing too. It's unnecessary (technically) and probably takes a ton of time for the makers to program or whatever, but I just need it for some reason. Even those simple palette swaps old NES games (LoZ, Metroid) did to mark progression was cool AF to me back in the day.

Like belts in karate. This is a natural thing to feel. A visual reward. Something marking that you've changed your equipment is very stimulating. I respect a dev that doesn't implement it because maybe if they had they may have been overworked for something so small, but it is nice when they have the time. 🙂

Interesting. Been on my wish list for some time. Been reading reviews to try and figure it out, and it seems that it could be right up my alley. I get the impression that a lot of the naysayers simply had very different expectations and didn't "get" the game, and that unlike games in which there actually is little to "get", there are actually things to "get" here for the right kind of player: The deliberate, self managed, analytical kind. There are bugs, and those are not for anyone obviously, but apparently the game is patched all the time. I think I'm gonna risk it. It's not expensive.

Games that you can't really point to anything else and say "Yea, it's just X game with Y gimmick." 12:46 Sounds like the developer might actually have experience of having to use an inventory system IRL (read:used a backpack). As someone who goes backpacking once in a blue moon, it sometime feels a bit weird when your character can drag around hundreds of items, but only (like) 10-20 kg or vice versa (or can easily have 50 kg of stuff in his backpack but can't wear anything heavier than cloth as armour). On a somewhat related note, some games have really, really strange weight systems (or whatever you call it when a E.G. random one-handed sword weights either 5 kg or pounds).

@donjean65902 жыл бұрын
That they have. Never near as many as people claim but even in Renaissance times there are actually people who made a living hunting wolves. Real life Police reports with witnesses even.
@Muenni2 жыл бұрын
@@donjean6590 Humans hunting wolves has little to do with wolves hunting humans. We hunt everything, since before our recorded history, likely to extinction if it's another top level predator. And people have always told stories about these supposedly dangerous animals. From what I know, apart from cases of rabies, wolves only ever see humans as prey when they have learned to not fear them or were starving - and then they almost exclusively go for kids, sometimes women. I don't think a fully-grown human with armour, a sword, shield and torch has anything to fear from wolves. Plus, they never even remotely grow to the size of bears, not even the size of humans.
@paulie-g2 жыл бұрын
@@Muenni While they definitely don't grow to the size of bears (albeit they did use to be larger), the idea that wolves only hunt for food and the like is a myth. Wolves absolutely hunt for sport or on instinct if you like. And they absolutely were a danger to humans in the wilderness back in the days when they were plentiful. Armor, mail and the like were the province of the richest of the rich in those days - normal people who made a living hunting, gathering or traversing the wild expanse absolutely did not traipse around it in armor. Hence the danger. Beyond that, mail doesn't cover all parts of the body, while a full suit of armor would be too unwieldy to actually let you land hits on wolves. Even if you managed to scare them off, your horse would be dead or gone and they'd just wait you out. Severely underestimated predators.
