We go on a hunt to show you what the Catlins has on offer for your weekend overland trip. We come across possibly some of the best coastal scenery in the South Island. Enjoy the sun and the sand before a southerly storm blows us back home

This is wild ive come across your channel... because I have a Gen 3 Surf... but also just discovered you had a TJ Wrangler like me lol! Love the video man great shots, making me keen to kit mine out - I have a question though - I spotted your pillar pod! where did you get it!?
@lostsheepadventures
@lostsheepadventures Жыл бұрын
Mean man!! I did love the TJ but the Surf is a sucha better vehicle for long trips and carrying gear. I custom made it myself. Its the original Pillar plastic with an Aliexpress universal 2 pod that I heat gun, molded and screwed to the original pillar plastic. A days worth of work but came out decent enough

Have always wondered what the fuss was down there at the Catlins and I guess it’s the beaches. I prefer the rivers did Skippers and Branches over Christmas and went right up top of the Hopkins in me big red Pajero on New Year’s Day. Have just bought a mini jet boat so will be boating the South Island rivers now Cheers for video

I too was wondering the same thing it looks like quite the handy wee bench\sink or would the normal table and large container to wash dishes in that I currently use be just as good?

I never read books. This was probably the first book since high school and I absolutely bloody loved it!! Could not put It down and highly recommend it to anyone. Just a brilliant story that capture my imagination and backing up the story with real physical problem solving haha

Definitely adding that to the list. Wife is a huge Narnia fan. I’m also curious what you thought of Hail Mary. Picked it up to read on our Christmas adventure and couldn’t put it down. But then I loved Martian as well. Also. Come up north!! 😬

Definitely take her there then, recommend maybe rewatching or finding the scene prior. I tried to hunt it down online but struggled. I never really read. So this was the first book in YEARS I attempted. Smashed it out in like a week or something because i just couldn't put it down. Absolutely loved it and highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys problem solving, sci fi, physics and space travel haha just a seriously wicked and well written story

Thank you for the video. Some great beaches to break away too in the future. Otago and Southland does have some nice beaches. But nothing compared too Northland....driving for a 109km on one beach...can't beat it! Also those dunes in the North is just amazing. Great little hidden spot in the end....found it! :)
@lostsheepadventures
@lostsheepadventures 2 жыл бұрын
I seriously loved the dunes up north. Will be making the trip back in no time I'm sure. In the meantime though, catlins offers some great stuff to explore. Can't beat the sand dunes of northland though haha

Hey mate. What suspension are you running in the rear of that thing? My rear always sags a bit with the tent on and the boot loaded but yours looks alright?
@lostsheepadventures
@lostsheepadventures 2 жыл бұрын
Mines actually sagging a niticable amount when i look at it every day. At the moment it has a 2" iron man lift in the rear. Over the next few months i will swap them out for a set of OME 891/2 springs from Union Car Spares. They set to carry 300kg and will give the rear around a 3" lift ae. That with some 80s stock height shocks from what i hear work great.
@tyronecull8813
@tyronecull8813 2 жыл бұрын
I run 80 series springs in my kzn130 sits perfectly when fully loaded few years old and no sag at all. Not sure if a 3rd gen surf can run them but id look down that alley dylbags

Hey bro, can I ask why you removed the rear bumper? I've been thinking about doing it on my KZN185 but not sure why, I know it looks cool at least, is it for clearance?

During a trip up the Hopkins I knocked it on a rock step. Bent it upwards and it dinted the rear tailgate and blocked it from opening. Had to bash it back outta the way with a sledge. So removed to stop that from happening again with plans to put a rear bar and Tyre carrier on
