At 1:12:00, how did the culture of transgression shift from left to right? The 1980s redefined the culture of cool (hip and square), which was never really leftist, in fact, with right-wing values - preppies, yuppies, followed by grunge, which is not very leftist. By the 2000s, with the left having become very sincerely anarchist and activist, etc, and in that regard moralistic to the utmost, rather than scientific in its approach, the logic of transgression had nowhere else to go. In any case it shouldn't be overestimated, as is often he case with boomers. Transgression is the law, as the anthropologists say.

Zizek is disassociate. It's not obvious in a "concrete situation" if people are offended. That's sheer self-absorbed stupidity. He's possibly partly misled for cultural reasons. But, I think its more the combination of his personal stupidity and his desire to make a (flatly false) point.
@blehblahov73985 ай бұрын
OK, so if it's never clear if people are offended, then literally anything you say could offend someone. Maybe you go say "hi" to someone and they have a speech impediment (e.g. they're French) and cannot pronounce H so they get offended. You see? How far is one willing to take this logic, because if you take it to the end then we all must stop talking altogether.
