im glad some else felt this. The last record was such a perfect balance of crazy guitar riffs and mastery coupled with good ole focused, tight songs. There were so many memorable stand out parts in each song. This whole new record really seems to have gone for an even MORE stripped back, groove based riff approach. WAYYYY simpler, more open zeros. Ill be honest im a tad bummed. Hoping it grows on me over time and im sure it will! What's ironic is I only became a HUGE fan of the band on the last record BECAUSE the fact that they simplified there sound just a tad!

Definitely less riffy and not as mind blowing as S/T, but this simpler groovy sound is quite enjoyable to me too. They didn't quite pull it off as well as they could have, but they tried something different and I respect it.

Love Erra, but these new batch of songs are kinda cringey for me. Too much Ghost Atlas sounding vocals and weird fake drum beats. I really miss the formula of JT being the lead singer and not relegated to standing around singing along to Jesse. Music is starting to sound too processed and not the raw metal sound they used to be.

Erra fan for years now. So far this has been the most underwhelmed I’ve ever felt hearing a new release. Not saying it’s bad necessarily, but it’s not making me want to play it on repeat. I hate to agree. The last album was just perfection so I knew it was going to be hard to top. Im just sort of surprised at how much of the sound from the last album seems to have been ditched. The songs felt like such journeys with peaks and valleys. GREAT dynamics with amazing riffs and hooks. This new album is still super heavy and riffy but it seems to be way less varied or something? WAY more super low tuned 0 type riffs it actually started feeling monotonous. Even the hooks just dont seem to be there. As im typing this im jammin electric twilight. Thats a freakiin song!

I'm torn on the new record so far. The last one was just TO freakin good. I felt like the last record was a PERFECT balance of crazy guitar mastery with a more focused, song structure. The new album id describes it an even tamer version of that. Way more opens, not as many crazy guitar riffs. The riffs are still there and SICK but there just a tad more streamlined. One thing that for sure surprised me a bit though was what seems like the lack of growth for the UNCLEAN guy. Last album he really took off and had such a huge dynamic range. This record feels like he sort of just sits at the same mid register the entire time. Also feels like while the choruses are here, there just no insanely memorable hooks like memory fiction or vanish canvas. I don't mean to sound harsh. Comparatively to their peers, I still think there a step above ALL the rest musically. It was a combo of the last record, then the deluxe with those couple bonus songs that were just INSANE. I sort of was taking nigh to silence as a reference to the new record because it was written after the last album was done. First listen on the last album I had so many standout moments already stuck in my head. Haven't had anything come close to that feeling yet but I'm thinking this one's more of a grower!

Nice! Ive seen them live twice in Oregon and both times was a great experience. It will be an awesome show, they bring a ton of really positive energy and imo are very good live performers (some bands are great in studio exclusively). Theres nothing like standing up front at an ERRA concert and letting the bass change your chemistry until you cant even think anymore lol.
