I'll pitch in a few bucks. I would like to see some quick videos on specific topics. Livescope settings, how much time do you spend side scanning, boat positioning in current(or no current). Stuff like that. Talk about your gear. Not specifically a 'brand' commercial. But what features you like about the tools you use. Braking systems on the reels you like. Rod guides. Grips. Short videos on a variety of topics will show you what the consumer wants to see in depth.

💯 You don't need to worry about talking all the time. Just let us know why What are you thinking about before you make the cast. Not every cast, but the why of what you are doing. Show them the why - on what gear (general stuff ) and you're golden. Seriously dude, well done 👏

I agree 💯 how do you break down a lake when you get there, why do you prefer one product over another (not just because manufacturers sponsor anglers) I love Bill Dance and his videos but I now know that everything he recommends is because he’s backed by businesses. The dancin’ eel is widely considered 💩 tell us is the Tatula better than the Curado DC for example. Are St Croix rods really the best or G. Loomis or whatever. We’re here for the REAL unfiltered truth. You are a hammer and if you keep speaking the truth about what makes you successful maybe the manufacturers will put the tools in your hands.

PREACH! I've been considering trying the EQ's but with the state of everything, I'm very hesitant to dump a ton of my own money with zero sponsors to try and chase the dream without any sort of idea if I make the elites if I'd have any help. I have so much damn respect for the RAW conversation and fearlessness you've had to speak out about the big organizations.... They need to make a change if they want to keep any Non-endemic sponsors.... Keep up the positive thoughts, and good luck in 2024!

Jacob, congratulations for having the guts to speak up. I know it was painful for you, but sometimes pain pushes us to where we need to go. Oh, and those that don’t say anything who stay silent; well, those guys could be part of the problem, maybe or maybe not. I wish you the best of luck this yearon your tournament season.

I think the last month you have fully taken advantage of the platform you worked to get to. The reason your video blew up is you are an elite bass pro, if you made that video as an open angler no one would have cared. There is nothing in life given, only that which is worked for. You worked for your platform, now put that platform to work for you. Nothing will be overnight, keep being you, keep making content, keep catching bass and keep working. As an outside I think you looked at it with the perspective that if you got to this point that you had arrived and deserved all of this recognition. The reality anymore is that you worked and fished to build YOUR brand, and four months ago, no one outside of really dedicated bass heads really knew who you were. You are finally changing that, kudos to you, I’m sure all of this stuff will fall into place for you now that you are exponentially growing your brand.

Jacob, I’m on Tellico. I used to be big into bass but in the late 90s TWRA stocked walleye to implement the sauger population. They also introduced alewives for their forage. The 5 stages of frustration, you're on about level 2. There is no real meaningful success without failure, if you want it bad enough you can change the industry instead or conforming to it. Your instincts are correct, skill should equal success, but in a vain and superficial world that feeds shallow emotions with the quick fix junkie impulsive no depth corporate business models, it's hard to stomach going against your views of hard work should be enough. You are correct, again I say, shame the industry if you can back it up into exposing them for their (corporations) choosing meaningless content over meaningful dedication and skill, no one wants to be called shallow, but that's just what they are. You must be very straight forward with proof to expose them, we still live in America and without naming names as to avoid law suits, expose them for the chi na products, the poor customer service, the buying and selling to monopolize, call them out for taking advantage of the consumer, call them out for their business models that steal, kill and destroy. Don't be their slave, make them your bi tch and your subs will explode and then they'll beg you to sign with them and you can name your own price. FIGHT! If you have to change tactics, change to what will put you in charge not in slavery. Good luck my friend, I'll be watching and so will the corporations that can't afford to to be exposed by a truth telling character building influencers, remember this also, you'll have more success exposing them with humor and kindness, just saying.

Keep trying to figure out what works and doesn't work for you man. Some people will love it, some will hate it, it's the nature of the world. You are just a cog in the machine, but doesn't mean you can't make a place for yourself. I would suggest pulling back on being judgemental of those that have already figured out, and reach out for advice and tips on media training and how to manage the marketing side of what is required in the social media world. I think Rob was very clear in that just being able to catch fish will not pay your bills unless you have a phenomenal year, every year. So outfishing someone is the goal, of course, but that does not correlate at all to hitting the jackpot with sponsor dollars. Best of luck.

As an amateur fisherman I watch KZbin to learn. I see a ton of bait reviews but other than a few videos here and there. I don't see why the angler chooses exactly what bait/color/retrieve they choose once they start fishing. Personally not interested in Live scope because it's all the same. Find fish, jig a soft swim bait or jerk bait. Also if you go over previous success in tournaments with the items I mentioned above. I'd watch everyone of them.

You have bought and paid for everything you have so what brand of trolling motor are you using and why. What brand of rods are you using and why, why do you run a nitro, what baits are you throwing and why. You are obviously using the tools you use for a reason and it's not because they were given to you so tell your story but include these other things if you really want sponsors attention

When it comes to Milliken, he does come across as a douche, but I don't know him personally. Several of my friends (who are part of the 6th Sense pimp crowd) really like the guy. To me, the good part for you is that Milliken is an expert at capitalizing on YT trends. If he noticed your video and felt the need to make videos about it. and mentioning you, that is a good thing for you. He gave you some great pub, especially given the size of his channel. So, despite the fact that his mentioning you in what could be considered a negative light, the next time you see him, you really should give him a big ole kiss. Through his channel, he gave you a good deal of publicity and as we all know, there is no such thing as bad publicity. In reality (if you haven't already), you and he should get together and piece together a faux rivalry/"negative relationship" and play it to the hilt. Neither of you have anything to lose and everything to gain. Almost in the way that Iconelli realized early on that bass fishing, when he broke into it, was dominated by "good ole boy-southern-ah shucks-humble-tow-in-the-sand-good-guys types. So, Ike realized that a good way to create a brand, was to be the opposite of what was the standard. He decided to be the brash, Yankee, loud mouthed, fit throwing persona/ You gotta admit, it worked really, really well. As I'm sure you know, in reality, Ike is one of the nicest guys you'd ever want to meet, but he realized that schtick was way over-played and decided that playing the "villain" had a lot more upside potential to differentiate him over the rest. Plus, as I know you are aware, Milliken isn't the only one who capitalized on your vid. I had a guy that admitted to me (and his channel only had a few hundred subs initially) that after he did a video talking about your vid, he shot up to 1500 over night. So, as I'm sure you know, you're making waves, and that is all good. In furtherance of Milliken when it comes to marketing, he is a genius. To me, he is the prototype of how you break into the big leagues in modern times, just in the reverse way that it was/is traditionally done. He was lucky enough to get into the YT game very early, and build a successful brand (that and being fortunate to hitch his star to Casey Sobzack from the earliest) and built his brand and his following and THEN he decided to make his move into professional fishing. Totally opposite of how it is normally done. In any case, just from his fishing skill set, you gotta admit he had a really stellar rookie year. So, as far as you are concerned and your land mark video of speaking the "truth", my opinion, as far as how this game is played (and so does everyone else, obviously, as far as "opinion" goes) and that is this. I have no doubt that what you said was heartfelt and also, for the vast majority of what you said, was absolutely true (and remember, my opinion is just that of a week-end hack, who just happens to be old and have followed this silly game for well over 50 years and been fortunate enough to have been around/met/know/be friends with, a lot of the old time legends), but I do have some questions for you, if I may. While I don't doubt that a lot of the old timers that you sought advice from did tell you to "just focus on the fishing and the rest will take care of itself" it's problematic for me to see that there wasn't corally advice given. That being, "ALL else" that goes into this game and how to be successful. While possible, it does strain credulity to think that is ALL that they said. The reason I believe this is because all the old timers I know (a number of whom are among the biggest names in the game) have always told stories of their early days in the sport. Take Jimmy Houston for example, he has made innumerable videos about how in the early days of his tournament fishing, he "knew" he HAD to place in the money, or he didn't know how he'd have enough coin to even get back home. I say this just to illustrate that I don't think its ever been anything but difficult to make a go of of professional fishing. To further illustrate, just in the case of Houston, this is a guy who is in his 70's and every video he does he's talking about where he is going (usually several times a week) and jetting off all over the country to pimp his sponsors. Not to mention all his other side hustles to make coin and its not like he isn't already a multi-millionaire.Just an illustration of how much work outside of fishing these guys do/have done to make a go at this game. So, in conclusion, would you concede that it is possible when you were getting this advice, there wasn't at least SOME selective hearing going on? Hope you read this and look forward to your response.
