Coming from a lower caste, I never held a caste certificate and never redeemed any reservations. I was privileged enough to be brought up by a hard working mother and afford private education. Now that I'm in a better place than where I and my family came from, I still cannot forget that I am a chamar. This video made laugh and cry at the same time. Bro, first let me say that I was born and raised in a Brahmin family and so I could never claim to understand your struggles. Unfortunately I have lost a friend from "SC" (I hate having to label him like that) who took his own life when he could not cope up with the academic pressure inside IIT. Seeing you make it far in life reinforces my belief that all communities in India can and will acheive great things. I would love to gain your perspective on all this 1. "I still cannot forget that I am a chamar". I'm not sure that I'm understanding this correctly. Is it that you associate pride with this identity? or is it that you are still made to feel inadequate as a result of this. I'd like to understand your first-hand struggles as from my circles I keep getting very biased narratives on the whole caste issue. 2. @@snehaprasad9079 As one of the villagers in the video have said, people from upper caste get a fake SC caste certificate and avail the reservation. So who is really benefiting from the reservations? Plus, I think the lack of discretion and anonymity for people who need and use the reservation are bullied based on their caste. People of India are not so woke enough to treat people with basic respect and decency and put their religion and caste aside. I sometimes think reservation has just become another tool to find and bully lower caste people rather than uplifting them. It's more of a curse than a gift.

I was born in a village in a small town in Madhya Pradesh. I was very fortunate and privileged to be born into a Brahmin household, something I didn't realize growing up. Now, I understand how privileged we were. Less than 10% of our village population was Brahmin; the rest were from scheduled tribes or scheduled castes. Our homes looked vastly different from theirs, and we owned more than 90% of the land in the village. Despite living in the same village, our lives were entirely different. I had the opportunity to attend an English medium school in the city, while others either had to work or attend underfunded government schools. It's difficult to voice this opinion when most of your friends are from similar urban, privileged backgrounds who often criticize caste-based reservations. However, understanding this disparity should be a wake-up call about our privilege. We watch their lives from a distance, on our screens, without experiencing the hardships they face daily.

My Retired father worked for 30+ years in rural development. I have seen the poorest of poor villages in various districts of UP, Bihar, Rajasthan, MP, and Maharashtra. The sad part is these POOR people are non-existent for most. Everyone ignores them, upper caste, middle caste, even the government. They are on their own. Even if some NGOs want to help, the ruling party government hinders if other parties' supports are involved. These are the heights of politics in INDIA !! Recently on my business trip to Kenya, I had opportunity to meet the prominent businessmen from that country and out of all the Indian, 85% of them were those whose roots can be traced back to Gujarat, and inspite of leaving in country since 2-3 generations, half of them still, rather inquisitively, asked for which "caste" does my surname fall into!!! Indeed a lugubrious affair of casteism which still prevails globally. In the rural parts of Gujarat, if you were to knock on someone's door and ask for a glass of water, I bet, about 70% of times you'll be asked about your caste. And if they don't, that means they've already judged you and categorised you based on what you speak with what pronounciation. It's gross.

Make no mistake they want Tejashwi Yadav wants reservation in the private sector. Except for a few months of President's rule, Only Lalu and family ruled Bihar from 1990-2005. This is the reality of my India. Casteism, Racism, Corruption. We're one country yet We're so much divided on the name of language, States, Cast and the worst thing is lower cast have another low cast in itself, cast under cast. Indian Govt. should try to make things better for those people it feels like they're still living in 1947 😢 i am so much grateful for that Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar gave us the Right to Equality and Right to Education.

This is why reservations remain relevant and important. I am a prime example of someone who has benefited from them. Coming from a Scheduled Caste, my father experienced significant casteism and discrimination. However, thanks to reservations, he was able to overcome these challenges, pass his tenth-grade exams, and secure a job as a bus conductor with the state RTC. This opportunity enabled me to pursue my cheap private education and secure a well-paying private job without needing reservations. This is precisely what our forefathers envisioned. It is unfortunate that a large section of people still cannot take advantage of this system, while there are already those who deem caste-based reservations unfair.
