Implementing Gradient Boost In Python|Gradient Boost Python code|Gradient Boost Algorithm in Python
#gradientBoostPython #GradientBoost #UnfoldDataScience
Hello,
My name is Aman and I am a data scientist.
About this video:
In this video, I show step by step process of implementing gradient boost algorithm in python. I explain How we can use sklearn in python and
implement gradient boost algorithm in python. I also explain how to tune the hyper parameters in gradient boost so that best fitting happens to the data.
Below questions are answered in this video:
1. How to implement gradient boost in python?
2.Gradient boost python code?
3.Steps to implement gradient boost?
4.How to tune hyper parameter in gradient boost?
5.What is hyper parameter tuning in gradient boost?

Thanks Aman for nice video. Here by doing feature importance we found out that some 4-5 feature are important for the model. So it is feasible to rebuild model by dropping other features ? Will it improves model accuracy ?
@UnfoldDataScience
@UnfoldDataScience 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Girish, this is a good question. Thanks for asking. Dropping non important variables will not improve model accuracy, however your model might be more stable if the removed variables do not contribute much to the accuracy

at time 4:57, you showed us the variable importance graph. I know that you said to disregard it but I actually want to include it in my project. I was able to create the graph but I am having trouble putting the values next to the variable names. In your case, I want to put the values next to RM, LSTAT, CRIM, TAX, and DIS. So far I have this: for i, v in enumerate(feature_importance): plt.text(v + 10 , i + .25, str(v), color='blue') the feature_importance values are there but they are not lining up correctly, anything will help. Thank you

@@UnfoldDataScience when I imported "from xgboost import plot_importance" and then I put "plot_importance(model)" the error that it gave me was "tree must be Booster, XGBModel or dict instance". Is there perhaps another way to solve this? I looked around and I could not find anything on how to solve this. sorry about the confusion.

Thanks Aman for the simple explanation , what if there are 3- 4 categorical variables in data set and how to deal with it and build the model
@UnfoldDataScience

Hi Ashish, Either we can try "one hot encoding" of categorical variable or we can try "catboost" " learning mechanism as well.

Hi Aman - would it be fair to say that One would choose to use GBM for better feature prediction/engineering and for hyperparameter tuning and/or inprove model accuracy prediction ? Also given that GBM is a trail and error method: i wonder how it would generally behave with large datasets ?
@UnfoldDataScience
@UnfoldDataScience 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, you are right. GBM is resource intensive when it comes to larger data set.

Hi Aman, Thank you for the video. In the example you took for Gradient Boosting, I see the target has numeric values. How does the algorithm work in case the target has categorical values (e.g. Iris dataset)? How does the first step of calculating the average of the target values happen?

@UnfoldDataScience

Hi Ankit, it is the speed at which you want to change your parameter. Less learning rate means, slower shift, fast means faster shift.
