Mugabe never went to prison for more than two years. He was incarcerated for two years at most at Gonakudzingwa prison. It was mere detention without trial. Being in prison was not his or any war veterans worst experience with white regimes anyway!!! War veterans suffered the bush life because there were both sympathizers and sellouts in the communities> the public provided food clothing and intelligence information to war veterans. For leaders life was less tough cause they were needed for negotiations. Unlike Mandela who was convicted upon a trial, other leaders elsewhere were simply incarcerated without trial and at times with amenities simply to prevent them from moblising the communities for banned or unwanted parties or revolutions!!!
