I have seen what you tried, but I see you missed four famous dishes which are delicious and people forget to mention: one is called FRANGO ORA PRÓ-NOBIS, which is a chicken made with a plant grown only there. The second, is FRANGO AO MOLHO PARDO (which uses some of the chicken blood in the stocking). The third one, my favorite, is FRANGO COM QUIABO, or chicken with okra. All of those dishes are sort of stews, and can/should accompany more mild things like ARROZ (rice), ANGÚ (a yellow polenta-like puree). Also some vegetables are welcomed, like mandioca (cassava braised, fried, cooked in clarified butter, or ghee), INHAME, MORANGA (japanese pumpking) or even JILO (scarlet eggplant - fried is better!!). And some sauteed dark leafs complete those like COUVE (kale, the green thinly cut leaf find in feijao tropeiro), TAIOBA - my favorite, (a delicious one only found sometimes) and ESPINAFRE (spinach). The last dish is a show stopper: LEITÃO A PURURUCA (which is a not-fully-grown pig that is roasted for hours and hours and has is skin turned into delicious crackling!!!). It may accompany ARROZ (rice), FEIJÃO (beans that can be many types, specially tropeiro which u tried already), MANDIOCA (fried, braised in ghee), BANANA (fried plantains or even regular bananas) or FAROFA. Let's not forget the desserts. Some stand by their own like: AMBROSIA (a show stopper made with eggs braised in milk with sugar - normally lightly burnt), PUDIM (a sort of flan/creeme caramel), QUINDIM (eggyoke deliciousness). The real traditional ones are normally sort of fruit homemade compotes and marmallades you should/could eat with QUEIJO MINAS FRESCAL (white cheese) to balance it out, which are called DOCE DE _________: mamao (papaya), figo (fig), jabuticaba, caqui. The most famous of those to accompany cheese are: DOCE DE LEITE and GOIABADA. Another thing foreigners find "interesting": MILHO (or "corn") presented in a SWEET way: Broa de Milho or Canjica, Bolo de Milho, Mingau de Milho, Curau de Milho Canjica. They can also be paired or stuffed with goiabada. But of course, we have the salty version of corn, like a stew called CANJIQUINHA (gritts "mushy" stew) which should be filled with sausages and pork meat!!! Btw, pork meat is huge in MG: LINGUIÇA (sausage), LOMBO (loin) TORRESMO (sort of crackling), BARRIGA DE PORCO (pork belly)...all.should be tried. To wrap it up, try the coffe but use the RAPADURA (a sort of solid lighter molasses) to sweeten it. And in the end, a little cachaca or even, some fruit licquors (LICOR) to finish the meal. JABUTICABA, JENIPAPU, star anis, This are just for a good lunch. Breakfest and afternoon coffe and dinner is another discussion, hahaha.

@@ollielevido7407 you are welcome man! If you have ANY questions, I will gladly help! just text me on instagram (@igorantony). I can see how the buffets can be a little bit overwhelming regarding what those things are and what goes with what. Also, another great place for foodies is TIRADENTES. The restaurants there are amazing. There is a village near that city, like a small art's district, called BICHINHOS: the restaurant TEMPERO DA ANGELA is an all you can eat buffet which everything is FRESH and from her garden.....the taste is completely different than normal food....its the heartiest of the hearties food! Also, do not fail to visit INHOTIM, the biggest comteporary museum in the world that is outdoors.....it is breathtaking and fun and new!!!!

Ouro Preto is super beautiful and the cuisine (cozinha mineira) is just out of this world. I can't say it's the best in Brazil because you know... my state and region are the best hahahahaha It's good that you mentioned the sad part of history in that region because yeah... Brazilians shouldn't forget that. And we usually remove Christmas decorations on January 6th (Dia de Reis). Can't wait to watch the bus tour video! 😀

I didn't know about the 6th January for removing Christmas decorations. Normally in australia we do it when we can be bothered after new year's hahaha. And it does have a sad history, so I didn't really know how to touch on that subject because we get to appreciate something so beautiful that many built in a difficult time in our history. The bus tour was cool, stay tuned

Ouro Preto is a university town, all the bars depend on thousands of university students, but you came in a period when universities are stopped due to the pandemic. In addition, there are dozens of student republics in the city and parties also take place within them. The guys use a lot of drugs and that's why everything is very hidden. In Ouro Preto you need to meet someone to take you around. This city has a very crazy culture, it's wonderful.
