8:10 It's funny how only in the duels with the Seal of Orcalcus are the monsters real yet, throughout the series, they have been shown to be very expressive in response to the situation at hand which, goes beyond what was programmed in the holograms. As if the holograms are merely summoning the spirits of the monsters from the monster world.

Kinda the point. Kaiba's hologram technology was made to make them as lifelike as possible. Based off his experience playing a Game of Darkness against Yugi, in which the Blue-Eyes he stole from Yugi, turned on him in the duel. As the card was sentient, thanks to it being a Game of Darkness.

One of my favorite lines was from GX during that one duel between Jaden and the tennis player, the tennis player called Alexis his "Obelisk Pixy" then it cuts to Syrus thinking of tiny Oblisk with fairy wings. Funny AF. Also another line was after that duel where Jaden won walks up to Alexis and says "Well I guess your my fiance. So what is a fiance anyways." Love that line.

It’s actually pretty deep psychology, Kaiba is desperate to save Mokuba at this time, so if he loses that duel to Yugi he may not save his brother, so he threatens to kill himself if Yugi beats him. Then the line after proves that to me, because now a desperate Kaiba who knows he was defeated had the duel played out feels a need to Justify it, so in his mind when he says “If Yugi did what needed to be done then he would be going into the castle” that’s justification for threatening suicide because if Yugi can’t do what ever it takes to beat Pegasus then maybe by some reverse logic that means that he(Kaiba) is strong enough to defeat Pegasus no matter what and Yugi does not. 🤯

To me, it was when Carley died in 5d’s. Jack was my favorite duelist as a kid and his relationship with Carley instantly mad her my favorite character due to his funny she was throughout the entire show. Seeing their duel at about 9 at night got to me, as I had to watch my boy Jack had to kill the person he loved the most in order stop her suffering. Really powerful stuff

Just watched the first season on Netflix and on the third. For some reason they don't have season 2, lol. But the comparison of the show to the TCG is crazy lol. Imagine pulling these combos off in a tournament lol. People just be yelling over each other making up effects. I love watching the show and laughing at how crazy they go with stuff. My personal favorite is the counter traps. Where they just pull stuff out of their butt and make it up, but as players we know exactly what the card really does, and it's no where close to the "real life card" effect. "Some people got heart, some people got bread" Lol love it.

I love when they play normal spells during the opponents turn, traps straight from the hand, spells that are trap colored, and when they interpret cards literally like with the mammoth graveyard-polymerization-living arrow combo. The way they deal with field spells like mako's a legendary ocean or umi is also ridiculous. Its like they are all illiterate and just make up whatever it does by looking at the card art.

About the Kaiba moment, I'm pretty sure in the original Japanese version, Kaiba said he would take a step back for every 100 Life Points he lost, meaning if Yugi had reduced his LP to zero, he would have willingly stepped off the edge of the cliff.

I like the Ghost Kaiba duel, because Yugi literally wins by cheating. Not like "Oh, haven't you heard? My Catapult Turtle gains 1000 attack every time you say "Impossible," like no, Kaiba straight up hacked the mainfram in universe to reduce Blue Eyes' attack. Also Espa Roba. So, lets review. At the start of the duel he's like "I'm psychic and can use my powers to look at your hand." Okay, cool, go for it my dude. "I'm not actually psychic, my brothers spy on my opponent for me but aside from the framing device literally nothing has changed, so-" DISQUALIFIED FOR CHEATING.

The anime is so much better in Japanese. Something that isn’t explained in the dub (for some stupid reason) is that the locket that Mokuba wears around his neck is the key to unlocking all of KaibaCorp’s confidential data. This means that if Kaiba doesn’t save Mokuba, Pegasus would not only have his brother, but also his company regardless of Kaiba’s involvement. In their duel, Kaiba doesn’t actually try to force Yugi to surrender by bargaining with his life, he actually actively chooses to step back one tile for every 100 LP he loses, because he has nothing left to play but his life. He knows that if he loses, he would have no more reason to live because he would no longer be able to save his little brother nor his company. Kaiba would lose literally everything. Therefore Yugi suddenly realizes how high the stakes are in this tournament and throws the duel to save Kaiba’s life. Kaiba even tells Yugi later on after Pegasus’s defeat that he owes Yugi his life, which is why Kaiba does everything he does in later seasons to help him and his friends. 4Kids did Kaiba dirty by making him a total asshole for American audiences.

@@Xeno_Solarus in my opinion, the sub is better cuz they have a lot of explanation than the dub which is just all the trash talk, also the energy of the japanese va is so good, like there voice is so good u can know when they are happy, sad, angry, let me give u some example how good is the sub: "the monsta cardo meme", "yugi defeat kaiba in battle city","kaiba summon obelisk in the dark side of dimension movie", "kaiba speech in the dark side of dimension movie when the neos blue-eyes ultimate crash the plant"... there are a lot more, and when i saw the kaiba speech in sub and dub i was confused how different the speech was, and i swear if u even a fan of dub, u have to agree that kaiba speech in sub is so good, way more better than the dub where he just talk about himself. But its just my opinion, its ur choice to choose sub or dub, but if u can, i recommend u to watch atleast some cut scene of yugioh in sub if u haven't watch it.

However, there's one thing I prefer in the dub more than the sub and it's the Pharaoh's VA. In the sub, Yugi's voice stays the same when he transforms and it's so jarring because it's the voice of young teen coming out of what is obviously a much older individual.

He didn't cheat. He was playing by the rules of Duel Monsters. People really need to stop thinking that Yu-Gi-Oh! the card game, is the same game as Duel Monsters. Yu-Gi-Oh! the card game is BASED off Duel Monsters. Rules, effects were changed/added/removed, when creating the card game by Konami.

So where is the duel monsters rule book? All his opponents seemed totally surprised whenever yugi started making up his own rules and if there was set rules about it they would have planned for and expected his moves so clearly his moves weren’t based off any set rules, simply put they literally let him make whatever rules he wanted

@@daenor7807 In his rematch duel with Kaiba, a basic layout of the rules of Duel Monsters is shown. This is before the invention of Trap Cards. While it's never shown, it's pretty hilarious and absurd to say he's cheating. When he's never had any issues in any legal tournaments. His opponent's have never listed a single rule to contradict him, unless they didn't know the effect of a card in play(or forgot) And his opponent's have done the same thing, without him calling for a disqualification. Or was Monsters hiding in the Dark, or hiding underwater, or Machine's being immune to magic, not the same, because the people who used those mechanics, weren't named Yugi? And your evidence that he's cheating is: Over-the-top cliche anime reactions, and a separate game that's based off Duel Monsters.

@@SakuraAvalon well let’s start with the fact yugi doesn’t even do the dueling, it’s two on one in a supposed one on one game, sounds like cheating to me, then theirs the whole magic bit, now if your in a shadow duel where both sides got magic going on that’s fine I guess... and yeah for all those others yugi seemed clearly what the hecked as well, not to mention in one duel it was three v one, yugi, atem, and seto hacking the game so yeah he has had his fair share of unfair as for yugioh as well play it and duel monsters being different why do we see yugi and Pegasus in yugioh gx and then we see ancient gears and duel academy in arc v where we see the summoning method from 5ds, and zexal as well thing them all together and in vrains we see references to kuriboh so what yugi plays is a primitive development of yugioh as well play it so I can swallow the no traps but the cards still got the names of known traps which is a bit iffy then there’s the whole electric attack against weevil and the whole break the ring around panicks castle, and I’m gonna say attacking to moon is crazy too, your gonna say all this things were part of the rules and just completely vanished like poof? Or would you rather say Pegasus, the games recreator, hosted a tournament on a free to define game with no standardized rules?
