As a dedicated plant enthusiast, I decided to embark on an experiment that would challenge the resilience of rare and tropical houseplants. Ordered during the Black Friday sales, these plants faced the ultimate test: surviving being shipped in the coldest part of winter. This video is not just an update; it's a story of survival, growth, and unexpected outcomes.
🌿 What to Expect in This Video:
A detailed walkthrough of each plant's condition post-delivery.
Insightful observations on new growth, resilience, and those struggling to adapt.
Special highlights on the Anthuriums' surprising thirstyness and the Philodendron luxurians' unexpected new leaf.
From the lush foliage of Philodendron pinnatilobum aff and Monstera subpinnata, to the unique charm of various Anthurium species, each plant tells its own story. Discover which of these green beauties are thriving and which are facing challenges.
🔍 Dive Deep Into the Highlights:
Philodendron pinnatilobum aff & Monstera subpinnata: A look into their resilience and adaptation.

That A. Flavollineatum is an absolute beauty... I feel like the one that did the worst is the type of anthurium that's a struggle for everyone, considering the type of leaves. I'd LOVE to see your entire anthurium collection, you always have some "oddballs" and don't seem to be about the "pap craze"

Absolutely agree, the A. Flavollineatum is breathtaking! 🌺 I'll consider showing off the whole collection soon. 'Oddballs' over 'pap' any day! 😉

Good for you getting those predatory mites for so cheap. And I'm also insanely jealous. Here it's about 1 euro per satchel. Fingers crossed for you that this means you go into spring and summer without thrips 🤞🤞🤞 Also: beautiful A. flavolineatum. I love how those lobes stand at an angle ❤

Yes, so jealous! Our shipping costs are insane in the States because we have so much ground to cover for live bugs to reach us while they are still alive. We have to fly them next day.

They’ve acclimated nicely into your environment Memo. I really didn’t expect them to do so well; only minimal cold damage. Thanks for update Memo!

Great video! I just tested my luck with shipping an A. besseae during a warm spell with a heat pack and lost almost the whole plant when the post office neglected to deliver it for several days after it reached my town. This is my first experience rehabbing a cold damaged plant. If anyone has wisdom they would like to share, please do so! From what I read, hydration and humidity are very important during recovery because the cells that hold the plant’s water burst when they freeze. I am constantly amazed at how these plants can adapt to the conditions we force them into. This one should be completely dead but it is not.
