Absolutely, I agree. The Ciri model isn't ugly, but it certainly looks modified beyond a better resolution version of the previous model. Everyone whining on both sides is clutching their pearls. Of course game companies are going out of their way to be inclusive, because they'll have a wider demographic and get more money, which all they give a sit about, not fans. The edge lord fans need to acknowledge that, it's all about money; at the same time, there's a time when inclusion is dumb as shit. If they threw a bunch of vikings, Zulu warriors, and Egyptian charioteers, into Black Myth Wukong, it would be ridiculous, and not fit the games tone at all.

I game since i was but a boy and these sad individuals i think to start calling them the lost generation cause what are they gonna do when they start hitting fifty and the arthritis becomes crippling. True. Also, W3's ending (at least the good ending where she survives but the Nilfgaardian Emperor is unaware of it) hints that Ciri will be the protagonist going forward. The ending to Blood and Wine also states the Geralt is retiring. Anyone who has played these games would not be surprised Ciri is the protagonist of W4.

People are so tired of being manipulated that they are assuming right away, with practically no evidence that something was changed because of DEI. Usually an artist wants to do something unique that makes you want to look at it forever. No one wants to look at a mundane design that looks like people they see in their everyday lives. It has to be something that stands out, whether it's beautiful, ugly, fascinating or horrifying. So it's easy to know when a design is not the true artist's expression, but something decided by some political agenda... Or is it? We have many confirmed cases of changes made by third parties (whether DEI or not), because many times those involved brag about how they "improved" the game, but the truth is that there is no way to know for sure. The design could really be the artist's vision or even what the actress who lent her face looks like. Furthermore, many influencers take advantage of the situation to gain engagement, fabricating narratives and interpretations that are sometimes not true... At this point, I wish there was something similar to what the UK has for product placement, where every game that has undergone changes by a third party, be it a DEI consulting firm or an internal ethics control team, would have a badge or notice indicating this. If your game has undergone DEI consulting, don't hide it, be proud and tell the world about it. This would help eliminate all the nonsense that has been happening on both sides of the argument.

Ironic because the looks of the Witcher characters was likely what drew many of them to play the games in the first place. The Witcher games always had ridiculously attractive characters. That was a large part of the appeal. There's no shame in admitting that you like attractive characters. In fact, I'd argue that trying to deny that biological instinct is unhealthy. As for Ciri in the trailer, Geralt is 98 years old but looks like a god, but somehow Ciri looks like a soccer mom after aging just 10 years.

In the 1800s for instance, a woman was considered "beautiful" when she was a bit more on the "plumpy" side. "Geralt is 98 years old but looks like a god, but somehow Ciri looks like a soccer mom after aging just 10 years." Both look same category: in good physical shape, but worn-out and literrally scarred through their experience of life and their witcher-status.
