When they made prostitution legal during the civil war, it worked out great. They had so many soldiers catching STD's and getting distracted by prostitutes that the government decided to make prostitution legal and regulated. So what they did is they would set up all the brothels on one street and prostitutes had access to health care and were required to be tested and I think the soldiers were required to get frequent check ups too. If a girl got sick or caught an STD, she would be able to get top notch treatment in a nice hospital, for free! If people could accept sex work in the 1800's, they should accept it now. Decriminalizing it isn't enough. It has be regulated and the workers need free access to health care, because in Victorian England, prostitution was seen as a necessary evil, but there was no program for the workers to see doctors. Prostitution is the oldest profession in the world and it is way past time for sex workers to be treated with respect, to receive regular health care, and to not have to fear getting arrested for prostitution if they report a client.
