The museum was barely built before the international fishing exhibition was opened.
A brand new museum displayed both fishing equipment, boats and fish during the International Fishing Exhibition in Bergen in 1856. It all came about in record time, and was a great success. But it must have smelled a little. Bjørn Arvid Bagge gives you the story about the great event and what still exists from that time in the Special Collections at the University Library.
